hi guys, bela was very helpful in sending me some pics of that shinobi cab he picked up from the abandoned warehouse. since he's only keeping a few of those games for himself, i've asked him if i could get my hands on that shinobi cab. not because i like shinobi, but because the cabinet seems to have been a genuine american taito cab (although i think it's missing the base) with the original green jungle king (generic) sideart underneath. because jungle king is one of my favorite games, my intention would be to convert the cabinet back to its former glory - that is: JUNGLE KING!
but first i'd like to hear from you guys if that really is an original taito cab - somehow to me the top part seems to be a little bit wider than usual. here's a couple of pics:

what do you think?

Is there anything to think about when you compare these 2 images???!!! Go for it!

Its most definately a Jungle King cab and looks the same width as mine if that helps.
I have a JK marquee (pretty mint iirc) that you can have for the postage if you get the projuct going
-
thx for your input, guys! this means i'll definitely be going for it (although this means a looot of work and parts and money to get it back to its original glory). and also thx a lot for that kind offer, rav, which i'll gladly accept. if there's still space in the box, you can throw in your cab's base as well ;)
-
Defo a Taito cab - missing the base (easy to make one!)
I'd keep the JAMMA/System16 harness in it and just make an adapter for the Jungle King pcb - As Rav has kindly offered you a marquee, I think I have the pcb which you can have for just the postage.

Aww shucks!!!
What I shouldve had said - its your just for the postage - but with a caveat that with little more than a weeks notice you shoudl expect me to turn up for a night, play your cabs, drink your beers, eat your food, crash at yours and then cite "hey, I gave you that marquee - REMEMBER?" :) NAH - Seriously, what I mean is if you get it going, I'd love one day to stop by, have a game and anothe rchat and that in itself would be a reward itself for giving away a marquee - PM me your address and ill get it ready to post!

puh, i thought for a second you were going to say "i'll take your girl", but then i remembered that you already have one ;)! joking aside, as charlotte already said: feel free to drop by any time for a round of games and some nice cooking / baking from charlotte's side!

now that i have this thread open, let me use it to go fishing for parts. what do i need to convert the game back to jungle king?
- pcb  kindly offered by oliver
- marquee  friendly donation by rav
- replacement control panel with joystick / buttons / wiring (don't know what i can use from the old one)
- control panel overlay (i'm having my hands on a NOS, if this falls through i'll take the silkscreened version from thisoldgame)
- monitor bezel
what else do i need?
-
- 40+ hours to get it to shine again!......
-
ok guys, i've got everything together (at least in theory, not a single part is here yet) EXCEPT the monitor bezel!
i could get one from quarterarcade for 45 bucks, but the shipping alone would be 70 bucks, which means 115 dollars to get a piece of glass over to germany - more than the entire cab is going to cost :o :(
anyone???

hey ol, do you have also have other jungle king parts? is your pcb the "multiple board version" with game pcb, cpu pcb, video pcb and rom pcb stacked on top of each other (numbers 2 - 5 on the following picture)? do you also have the filter pcb (number 6)?

Hey,
Yes I believe it is. I also know I have a few of them too. But i've never tested them, i've just picked them up from places and then carefully stored them in anti static bubble wrap and put them in boxes over the years. I have probably got over 1000 pcbs now. I should probably do something about it.

thx ol, but this guy has been trying to sell the bezel on KLOV for quite a while now without success - the condition isn't great either PLUS he doesn't offer international shipping. i could have bought a bezel from anthony of quarterarcade, but including shipping it would have cost more than the entire game :P. i found a very good solution to the bezel problem which fits perfectly to the setup of the cab. stay tuned and watch my resto thread!

since you said you have more of those JK pcbs and because they are untested, would it be ok with you to send them over in a bunch so that i could test them all? rav said he was going to see you pretty soon to pick up the pcbs, so you'd better start digging in your "mountain of pcbs" ;)
