Title: FS: Star Wars cockpit
Post by: level42 on April 01, 2010, 11:36:16 AM
OK, I've been thinking VERY long and hard over this. Everybody knows I love the SW cockpit and I've put a lot of time and effort in it so far.

However, to be completely honest, the game doesn't live up to it's expectations for ME. The thing is that I never actually played it in my youth, and so, there is the missing link for me. I realized when playing a couple of rounds of Ms.Pac Man and Galaxian yesterday evening that I love to have the games that I remember from the past. Now, the opportunity came up for me to score not one, but two of those true holy grails. I need to finance those though, so this is why I took this hard decision.

So, what are we talking about:

Star Wars cockpit, Irish built, excellent condition, fully working, 100% original, every single board is still the factory original !
Partially restored:
-replaced wide ribbed T-molding
-replaced floor matting
-replaced monitor plexi
-replaced canopy plexi's with grey one's (much better than the original brown one's, but you get those too in the deal)
-fully re-worked Amplifone monitor, new HVT, cap-kit, transistors, fully re-adjusted, honestly, I've never seen a better color vector monitor
- spare parts included in the deal: extra WORKING game PCB-set, -extra NEW Cinelabs HVT, - 2 spare deflection boards (need to be restored) -spare HV board (needs to be restored), complete yoke part set from RAM controls.
-all metal parts have recently been powder-coated
-2 speakers replaced with hi-qualilty JBL one's.

In all honesty, you need to take the cab as it is now. Lot's of parts need to be re-assembled. I've got all the bolts and mounting hardware (NEW!)

The only major thing still need to do will be the side-art (if Rich finishes the repro's), unless you like it as it already is, which isn't half-bad.

There is one busted corner on the bottom that needs to be fixed.
The small t-molding is still original, might need replacing if you like
The smaller backdoor is missing, you need to recreate one yourself.

I hope I listed everything about this machine. I will hate to see it go, but the balance is just tipped over by the other two grails I will be able to get instead of it.

For ALL info about the machine, check this out:

This thread has had about 50000 hits, so this might well be one of the most known SW cockpits in the world by now ;)

I'm convinced the new owner will be very happy with it and I offer (limited) support in the unlikely case anything goes wrong with it.

I hope it will stay a bit "in range" so I can come and play it every once in a while.

Price ? Well, this time, I decided to open up for offers. I seriously need to at least cover all the costs I put into it regarding material (not counting man-hours !)
PM me with your offers !

Cheers, Andre

what a shame  :o You will regret it.

I would very much like to buy it, although I already have one. but it would be great to have two next to each other. Unfortunately I am 'going out of business'. In fact, I will have to sell mine also soon.   :(

This is a tricky one, it is 1 april, but i can understand what he write about the feeling you have with a game from your past

why you think that i love DK  :P

and thats a good reason to sell it if you need funds to finance the grails

on the other hand, the dedication that andre has with its SW cockpit (as far as we know that) is also a very good reason to assume this is a joke

probably because everyone else thinks this is an april's joke! as i've written before, imho too lengthy and too detailed for a joke. so this is really real, andré?

because if it is, i'm totally interested in it and since michael already has a sw cockpit (although "only" jedi), he was kind enough to give me the GO. hmmm, don't know what to offer though ...

i'd better send you an email!

It was indeed OF COURSE a 1 april fool !!!!!

I would N-E-V-E-R part with my beloved baby !!!!

I plan on being buried in it ! (if possible not too soon though !) ;)

Sorry for the people who fel for it, but GOT YOU !!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

the good thing is: i can spend my money on something else and don't have to worry about getting a sw cockpit from the netherlands to germany!

you got me good, andré, but revenge will be mine - rest assured!

OOPS  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'll need to be careful :D

Originally I was thinking of posting a message that the Gravitar started showing bad problems. The thing was that that would be mainly aimed at Erik and I didn't want to put him through that stress ;)

  And you call yourself a friend!!

But I wouldn't get stressed, my motto in life is: ik word er niet warm van, en ik word er niet koud van.

By the way, Spyridon gave me a good idea to please my wife (with tetris, mind you  ;D ), so my sale is off also.
