 ;D ;)

Remember

Galaga - plans from Jakobud and Bruno's help (measures and adjustment)
Pac-man - as above
Donkey Kong - as above
Track & Filed - using sidearts and Bruno's help (with his Centuri Gyruss cab)
Tempest - using sidearts and ton of pics
Burgertime - ton of pics (sidearts) and Bruno's help

So .... first of all you need the profile of the cab ... I've not found yet  :?

Weekend... Finally!!!
tomorrow i go cut the pieces for the two cabs!!!...??? wait!!! wtf!
arrrh, seems like they are _not_ identical!!!!!! damn, why did´nt i investigate that before!!!!
(note to self: You stupid f**k!)

as you can see on the photo the cabs are completely different!... argh!

Ghouls n Ghosts:

and Ghosts n Goblins:

for the Ghouls i have a NOS CP, and for Ghosts i have CPO, Marquee and Bezel:

Bruno. i know it´s the 11th hour, but would you be able to get the CP details from your friend? (the way the steel is bend?)
i made this template fast so you can see how it´s bend...

Title: Re: Some one please help...

Was at the company at 1100 hrs today, so i could get the cab done.

Started to cut 2 pieces of MDF..:

Found the drawing and begun to draw the side of the cab..

For the curved corners i used a ...Passer, the Danish for it, don´t know the english word...

Cut of the top with a circular saw
(http://muerto.x10hosting.com/images/arc/gngcab13.jpg)

And woila! one side finished...

Placed the finished side at the bottom and took the last piece of MDF and placed it on top, and used a router for the cut:

From the bottom
(http://muerto.x10hosting.com/images/arc/gngcab10.jpg)

Yes, two finished sides.

Routed the trench for the T-Mold
(http://muerto.x10hosting.com/images/arc/gngcab8.jpg)

Made some lists for the cab assembly
(http://muerto.x10hosting.com/images/arc/gngcab7.jpg)

Assembling, under the lists i used glue for better support, and nailed the whole shabang together from the inside
(http://muerto.x10hosting.com/images/arc/gngcab6.jpg)

Finished routing the speaker holes..

Final assembling
(http://muerto.x10hosting.com/images/arc/gngcab4.jpg)

Mounting Bezel supporting lists
(http://muerto.x10hosting.com/images/arc/gngcab3.jpg)

And, finally, finished
(http://muerto.x10hosting.com/images/arc/gngcab2.jpg)

And with Marquee and Bezel
(http://muerto.x10hosting.com/images/arc/gngcab1.jpg)

Tomorrow i will paint the inside black, and the room behind the marquee white...

Youre right , danish and dutch is not so different,

well at least for the passer part, thats exactly the same  ;D

I think the english word is  "compass"

by the way , good tools are always the key !
this post demonstrates that very clearly

Looking good Muerto !

oh and i forgot to mention, smart to use plywood as the bottom instead of MDF, Plywood can resist alot more than MDF

Got up early to mount the TV and paint the cab..... here´s how it went down:

First was to disassemble the TV. 20"

Marked up on a piece of 22mm plywood (for strength!)

Frame assembled
(http://muerto.x10hosting.com/images/arc/gngcab210.jpg)

TV installed
(http://muerto.x10hosting.com/images/arc/gngcab29.jpg)

Waiting to go in the cab!

Must admit, it very easy to work on a cab when you have a table like this:

Whooops! - to fast with the list´s that hold´s the back door, so had to cut some of it away...

TV markup...

from the other side..

And yes! - Fits like a glove!

Oh, hehe - nice paintjob!

Post by: mchay on February 26, 2010, 11:01:23 AM
Isn't there a model number on the case of the TV, or on the chassis itself?

Some TV's need a dedicated service remote to enter the service menu, and others need only a specific sequence of button presses on the normal remote.

The overscan and possibly the centering deffinately needs to be adjusted a bit on that TV - but it shouldn't be a problem, when first gaining access to the service menu.

i'm sure you've asked around on klov, right?

great to finally see that project coming together. i remember well when you told me last year "man, i wish i had one of those machines, i've got (almost) all the parts together, but i can't find the measures anywhere". look where you are now. i'm very happy for you - and of course GnG is a fabulous game!

Yes, i have asked on klov, and i think they a growing tired of me bumping the thread....

Yes! - it´s great to finally use the GnG PCB, i bought it 12-05-2008... so it has been laying around for some time now....
Here´s a pic of the paint on the front of the cab, there´s 2 layers on atm, so it need´s to be sanded one more time, before applying the final layer...

Hey Michael. Thought I would join this forum too, instead of just lurking around as an unregistered user.

Great you godt the TV Issue fixed. I did read about entering the service menu on a LG TV just requiring pressing either "menu" or "ok" on the TV and remote at the same time.

+1!

And got it working, thought the manual says "press OK on the remote and the TV", and there´s no OK button on the TV, so i figured it could be the MENU button - luckily it was  :)

Your scratch build CP doesnt look bad at all !

i think you dont see the difference if you apply some art...

maybe a temporary "copy" of the CPO ?

I can understand that you want a "real" CP , but this one looks perfect to me  :P

Good JOB!

this is looking wonderful, michael! i'm sure you'll get an original cp eventually. have you checked if any other games use the same kind of panel, like scr33n did with the super pac-man for his burgertime?

Got joystick and buttons hooked up yesterday, and it played flawless.
later yesterday i hooked up the speakers, and the sound worked 100%
but now, there´s no sound, is started to make some scratch noises and then disappearing all together, so now there´s only a faint "sssssss" in the speakers.... any idea why?? - have i fried a chip? (checked my soldering, and there´s nothing wrong with it...)

... i had connected 2 speakers with a to low ohm number (4) which burned the amp on the PCB  :'( :'( :'( i lerned it the hard way  :'(

It's crazy because... I know I don't have to do that too : I mean using speakers with wrong impedance value regarding the amp  :? ... and in most of the cases : it works... and so I continue to do it... and your example prove that we cannot mix the value  :-\

Well done for the fix. I presume you replaced the amp chip?

I use a product by MAPLINS in the UK called Label Remover in an aerosol can, it just melts the adhesive right off, great stuff. Any decent electronics store should have something like it.

I'm sorry, a bit off topic: Nice posters over there, but I have a problem. When I try to view f.i. Tron, I get an error message saying that it's not a valid psd file. This happens also with the others, except the SW poster and the Pac poster. Does anyone else has also issues viewing these posters?

My best result in gng was that I managed to go to the endboss and beat him (you know, you have to restart one time the curse to level 1 after level 6) without continuing (though it was my last life when I arrived to satan's room)

This game is probably one of the most diffults arcade games ever made.

It's probably my favorite.

Can you build one for me ?

I have all the spare parts except the cab.

lol

Cheers, Mike.

I have just posted in you GnG and MP topic, and i thought.... Hmmmmmm - maby thats why you got those measures so fast!
but, again, great catch bruno and again, thanks for helping me out!

Progress of the build atm:
I have received the CP, but havent got the time to do anything with it, as im working long hours atm on a bar i Odense, which has to open April 17. And of course it´s more importent that the public have a place where they can buy cheap (yes André!) bees and shots/drinks!
