Not only was he the first Dutchman in space, he was a kind and great man and scientist, he was one of my hero's in the 80s.

Same here. A truly 80's icon. First Dutch guy in space, with such an unordinary name, that if you use his first initial it formed a dutch popular salty crisp/chips.

He was on Challenger.

The next flight it exploded, it later became clear the defect was already there during Wubbo's flight....he was lucky a couple of times to defeat death, just read about that on his Wiki...
