Christmas blowout. Lots of oldies for sale.
« on: December 20, 2010, 07:37:40 PM »

Things have changed storage-wise for me, recently inherited non-arcade items need space which means I have to get rid of a bunch of games.
I was saving these for some later projects/ideas, but that won't happen, so time to get rid of some old-school stuff.

As I need the space quite fast, the faster the pickup, the lower the price I'll let it go for. Make me an offer if anything interests you. Most of the games need work, so I'm not expecting fortunes or anything. I just want them to go to a good home.

Games are in Brussels.

Here goes:

Speed Race GP5

Plays blind, so it's a monitor problem. Could be a simple fuse or something more complex, I haven't even looked inside, it's just been sitting in storage.

Vectorbeam Speed Freak

Vector game. Doesn't work. Starts up and makes engine noise then one of the automatic breakers on the PCB goes. Missing side art on one side. Rust on metal parts.

Crossfire

Works. Could do with a cap kit, monitor takes a little time to warm up.

Guided Missile

Displays garbage on screen. Midway L-Shaped boards, I also have 5 spare daughter boards/PCBs I'll throw in. All untested but it could just work by swapping one in.
This game has a blacklight background and 2-way mirror.

M-4

Can't remember if this displays garbage or not, but I don't think it works. Also a blacklight game w/mirror.

Laguna Racer

Doesn't start. Haven't looked into it either, could be anything. Yet another blacklight decor game with 2-way mirror.
Also have 3 spare daughter boards I'll throw in. Untested.

Flying Ducks

Electro-mechanical game. Works. Needs a new blacklight (someone put a normal white tube in there instead) and a couple of bulbs changed.
Bezel is peeling, needs to be stopped. 8-Track player isn't running.

This one is Free, come and get it and it's yours.

Speed Freak may not be the greatest racing game, but the vector graphics were unlike anything seen before on a racing game in 1978:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiynX1K_x0k

Better view of the screen, although is probably MAME:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syDQ1GEM-s8&feature=related

Notice:
- the wire frame care coming ahead that is actually following the road
- the flying-over airplane, who had ever thought of that in those days ?
- the massive explosion of car-parts in the end.

Damn......I would seriously consider trading my PD for this....

If it helps you decide: the speed freak happens to be stored temporary at my place atm so I could even bring it along with the monitors. ::) ::)
EDIT: I can also provide you some more detailed pictures.

I've never had the game close enough to my bench to really be able to look into it, but I remember reading about the main reason those breakers would go and it wasn't something complex. Then again, who knows what else could follow :)

There's always this in the future too.

You have a PM good sir. Those Taito games need a loving home and I can provide one. Also interested in the Speed Freak to go with my other Vectorbeam/Cinematronics games.

I'm afraid it will be leaving the country for northern climes. It's all about balance in the gaming universe :)
