:: Fix It Felix Jr :: "I CAN BUILD IT!"
« on: March 08, 2014, 08:56:20 AM »
The movie is huge, the game is huge, the cabinet is awesome! It's time for me to start a project I have in mind since I've seen the movie... a gift for my daughter but also for me ... a dedicated Fix It Felix Jr cabinet!  :)

So following that story, my quest to catch an empty cabinet ...

...the project is about to start. Here's the bad guy at the beginning :

General condition of this cabinet is quite nice as you can see :

Yeah, a lot of missing parts... but hey, that's a project cabinet after all.

Hey, something wrong about the front panel board?

It has probably been removed, and then re-attached... but not perfectly right... :roll:See

After removing the power supply :

SPECIAL FORCES KUNG FU COMMANDO!

LOL... It's the second time I've seen that marquee on a Nintendo cabinet!
Normal, this game has been released as a conversion kit for DK cabinets, see here.
Never seen or played that game so far?! Never mind, let's remove that marquee...

Hey, an unexpected gift behind it...a free tool, left by the previous owner...  ;D

OK, I can live with a *slightly* damaged T-molding, but this is too much of course

...so, let's remove it!

Although the pictures don't really show it, the cabinet need a serious cleaning... before :

It looks better now...

...thanks to the magic sponge! ;D

Let's replace that horrible special forces kung fu whatever marquee. I need regular transparent perspex to build a a new marquee.
I use to think perspex is not easy to cut, but I would to give my jigsaw one more chance...
So, I bought a generic piece of perspex :

I found this blade...

...suitable for pespex!  :)

Set the jigsaw blade motion speed very low and...

...no more fear about cutting perspex!  ;D

I'm using this new FIFJr artwork marquee, part of a complete FIFJr 'full artworks package' I got from TOG...

...for a quick test 'on location'  :)
