Hmm, in desperate need of a new arcade game.

Let's see what Swedens largest selling site has to offer.

Ok, found something. Made a Quick call and haggled like hell. Preliminary deal was made. Brought the usual food.

Small cab. Is my beloved car big enough?

Naa, took the other car.

110 km later, the deal was made.

What could it be?

Even a arcade gamer needs food.

Finally home
(http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz118/dimmu--borgirkattkatt/Road/9.jpg)

Hmm, the screen needs some tweaking and definately a degauss.

All in all, in good shape. Everything works like a dream, except for the screen. Will paint the sides and add some sideart. Can't get all for 150£...

Great!

Excellent ! :)

Is that a Nissan Micra ?

If you turn back the Screen pot on the HVT (fly-back) I be the screen will already look a lot better.

If you're going for a restore you'll need some "fuji" buttons with LEDs to replace the one's currently on there. The CPO looks very good shape still !

And, welcome to the club (I've got a Centipede cabaret too!).

What I like of the Centi cabaret is that it still has a 19" monitor...

Edit: Can you see the pixx properly? On My IPad 25% on the right is missing?

Thanks guys. Yes, a really great game. @level42: Fuji buttons. Yes, saw that too. A friend of mine has one as well equipped with these. But i saw that one of them was connected, hanging loose underneath the panel. + one similar to the others. Wow, a 4 player Centipede!

Done some tweaking and it's alot better but far away from perfect. Couldnt find contrast, brightness or focus At first but found the two first connected with long cables, with their own pots just below the control panel. + there was a button with Degauss. Unfortunately the Degauss wasnt connected. Followed the cable back to the chassi but its hanging loose and I have no clue where to connect it. Its a two pins female  connector. When I tweaked them everything was, as I said alot better but now I have some "white lines" vertically on the screen.

Still can't find focus though.

The screen is not the original one. It's a Hantarex... Been looking on the net but can't find the right manual. Maybe some one here can help? I'll take more pictures soon but I'll post the ones so far.

Nice one, congrats. ;)
The monitor chassis is a Hantarex MTC 900, I don't know if the manual is available online, if you can't find it, I have it scanned. ;)

I have two original manuals that (I believe) nobody claimed yet.
I can send you one if you want.

Found the manual but thanks anyway. Focus was on the monitor neck. Done what i can and everything is as bright as it can. The lines I was talking about has disappeared.

But!

The colors are wrong. Quite fade. On the manual there are few pots that could solve this I guess.
Red/Green/blue Input level, GB Gain (not red) and RGB DC Level. 9 pots. Which ones would I tweak or is it pointless? According to how reachable the pots are My guess is input level?

Thanks

As far as I know, faded colors caused by the tube, let it run a few hours, maybe it will solve the problem.
If not, you will need a rejuvenator.

The colors are wrong. Quite fade.

Hold your horses !!

Remember that the colors used in Centipede are NOT that "hard" as on most games from the same era !!!

In fact they are pretty "soft" toned and thats how they are supposed to be so don't turn it up TOO much....

Most of the games in that era used very primary colors like (100%) red, blue, green, yellow. Centi had mixed colors and in softer tones, I am sure that has something to do with this being the first game designed by o woman...and maybe it is also why females are still attracted to this game...

That neckboard is another  proof how poor factory quality sometimes was in those days.....check out those solderings...

Some are "school examples" of bad solderings....Some are Even BULBS. If I would solder like that in school i got my balls kicked by the teacher. My 9 year old son makes MUCH better solderings :):):)

The cause looks clear enough in most of these solderings: Too much solder used...

Well, i'm probably satisfied with it but the day before I went purchasing this I played it at a friend and he had a new monitor. In comparison...well, lightyears.

I'll try the "hours on" and if nothing happens, I'll tweak a little. After that, well, it's fully playable and thats enough for me. Almost.

The closeup picture of the monitor looks like jail bars on the screen.  Is this visible in real life, or is just a frequency difference between the monitor and digital camera?

If you see those bars in real life, then the chassis needs a cap kit done.  I had a similar problem on a 25" WG K7000 series monitor, and the kit took all those bars away.

@leonk and well, anyone else. I'm a newbie to this (i'm a gamer foremost) but this time i'll try to learn as much as possible.

The bars you see comes from the photo. But when I tweaked brightness and contrast everything got better but there was other white jailbars all over the screen when I did that. They disappeared when I tweaked focus. Done some RGB tweaking today but the colors aren't what they suppose to be. The screen also go from blurry to quite sharp all the time.

Do you guys think that a new cap kit will solve this? I have a friend that will help me with the discharging, so don't worry...  ;)

Never hurts to do a cap kit....What monitor is it a g07 ? These have a very good reputation generally.

Electrohome?

So my monitor is a electrohome g07 and the chassi is Hantarex mtc 900?
Cannot take pictures until Monday...

No offense but why does this one get a "headline" and Gyruss' PP cockpit not ?

Any luck with the monitor yet? Judging by the pictures you have the screen volt too high and the colours too low. Also, the brightness and contrast pots are separate from the chassis and might be located elsewhere in the cabinet. The focus sits on the neckboard. Don't kill yourself while adjusting that btw! One hand around your nuts mate - always.

You say somewhere that the colours are wrong. Are they inverted? If so, plug CY/CX is the rgb negative - just move to the other header position (it is a three wire plug of red/green/blue). Also, as you say, it needs to be degaussed.

If, after recapping and adjusting everything there is it's still milky white, there is a chance that the tube is borked.  :(

And in case you haven't found it yourself yet: http://mameandcoinop.xoom.it//mameandcoinop/utility/mtc900.pdf
