About that Pieter, do you "keep the score" about what cabs will be there ?
I noticed the Computer Space was still missing (I did put that on the list on www.eurocade.eu though).

Something is missing from the list ;)
If there will be a generic jamma cab, I can also bring a Super Locomotive pcb.

I will be there to give a lecture on handheld games, probably both days.
And I will fill some glass cabinets with handhelds, just have to make a selection who brings what with Belike.

Needs some explanation: Pieter has a spreadsheet on which he keeps track of the games but the list on the Eurocade site is a "static" list. I hope to somehow make a viewable version of the spreadsheet that Pieter maintains integrated on the site so I have to update it all the time.

Cheers, André

P.S. Is it just me, or is it awfully quite from the "regulars" ??

it is not just you. I dont know, it took me a day to reply I will be attending because of error messages

anyhow, I hope you guys will be able to reach a bigger amount of playable cabs than last year, you know what I mean. Like grow 4 or 5 cabs, so the event gets bigger bit by bit
Title: Re: Eurocade 2013 visitors
Post by: level42 on May 11, 2013, 05:54:15 PM
OK guys I managed to integrate the games list into the eurocade website:

http://www.eurocade.eu/Eurocade/Games.html

No more time now, I will try to adjust the colors to the website a bit later...

If you want to see the complete list (for the die-hards) check here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvBOdN1qdTbNdHBoeVZ4YW9qZnhBY0lDcGVFSDAtSmc#gid=0

Now, this means we have one central place to register games and publish them right away (automatically) so we don't get any mistakes between lists :)

Easy: sell something :P

Sorry my friend, I assumed it because of Dirk's PM this afternoon....I really hope you do find some money can't have another Thorsten-less Eurocade ! ;)
At least the hotel is cheap(er) and includes breakfast, free parking and free Wifi.... Of course you guys get in free too since you would be bringing some cabs and what is left is some drinks, food, and yeah the gas....that's the big deal I guess.....

I would fully understand of course Thorsten.....I would have bought a "Level 42" cab too ........if it existed :P

André, could you add some details, please?

1) Are we supposed to come on Friday to bring the cabs in or can they also be put up on Saturday?

2) When does Eurocade open to the public, when do we have to be there with the cabs so they can be put up?

3) When does Eurocade end on Sunday, when can we pull out our cabs and drive home?

Thanks :)

Excellent questions Thorsten and definitely something we are going to communicate very soon because these are important factors if you're coming from a far distance.

I _can_ answer question nr. 3 though: The end time for both saturday and sunday is 17.30h. and immediately after closing the visitor cabs can be rolled out.

Note that we will have special carts at the venue on which the cabs can be moved while standing upright on them and there is no need to "drag" cabs or use hand-trucks, it's all flat floors and 1 big elevator.

One thing.... it won't be possible to leave before closing time. We hope you guys will understand why:
We can't move any cabs during the opening hours because of the Eurocade visitors and public around. Also, if this would happen, we would get "holes" in the set-up, which will look bad.

We expect to have some answers for your other questions after the weekend. Thanks mate !
Title: Re: Eurocade 2013 visitors
Post by: level42 on May 23, 2013, 12:06:01 AM
Answers my friends ! :)

We discussed these questions this weekend and came up with the following:

1) Cabs can be brought in on friday (almost all day but NOT after 17.30h.) and both saturday and sunday from 8.30h.-9.30h. The venue opens to the public at 10.00h.
2) If you REALLY can't make friday or saturday morning, we will have a "window" to move cabs in between 12.30-13.00h.
3) closing time on both saturday and sunday is 17.30h. Cabs can be removed immediately after closing time.

We hope that we have accommodated both the Eurocade visitors and the public in this way.

Another important point: the machines are insured by Sound & Vision for any molest in the almost unthinkable situation that this should happen. Of course this EXCLUDES:
- any damage already on the cabinet before bringing it in
- any defects on the PCB or monitor or other electronics inside the machine that happened during normal use (this is, being powered up and being played for the opening hours of the Experience)

Together with our permanent surveillance of at least two Eurocade crew members within the Theatre 2 room at all times we are positive this gives you the best assurance about the safety of your machines so you can bring them with confidence.

There's a good chance I will be attending this year, and I can't wait. Have you guys gotten the e-mail from Svavar? He is a 1m+ Donkey Kong player, who is hoping to qualify for the Kong Off at Eurocade (live-streaming, and he'll bring his own recording gear).
We have no original DK machine in Denmark, so his best shot at the top 12 will be at your guys event.

That is the big problem, we don't have an extra DK machine AND we don't have the space left to have a serious and working set-up for this. Maybe a next Eurocade.

We can't have visitors NOT be able to have a go on a DK machine.....impossible....so regretfully we can't have the record try this time.....maybe a next Eurocade though !!!!

Sorry to say, but my wife and I are not going to join this year due to collision with other appointments.
One kid or both may join, but they will raise their hand themselves.

Wish you all a nice time there !

OK, as you guys may alreday have read, you, your partner, kids, dog etc. have to be on the visitors list to get access to the private viewing of

If you are not on the list, then you don't get access, it is as simple as that! Reason for this is amongst others that the building manager has to know who is in the building after closing hours, for safety reasons.

So, if you want to watch 'The video Craze', which starts at 6 PM on Saturday evening, sign up in this thread if you didn't do that already and  then please come to Theater 1 at 5.50 PM at the latest the cashier desk in the Atrium, at 5.45 PM, where our hostess will check if your name is on the list. Don't be too late, we are on a tight schedule and we want to start the film without annoying disturbances. I am sure that you all will understand.

If you are not able to make it on Saturday, the film will also be shown Sunday afternoon at 2.30 PM. For that one you don't have to sign up.  :)

I really can't believe what happend ... since I announced my Video Pinball THREE times already, it will AGAIN not be ready for Eurocade. What happened? This time the damn cab worked already!! As Speleo_de is my witness only a cap kit was needed and a slight sound bug was there. I fixed the sound but the cap kit killed the chassis. I hate it. Turned on the machine and the well known smell of sh... filled the room. No picture on the tube of course. No neckglow.

So I will right now pull this freaking pile of sh... out of my basement, set it on fire and dance around it hysterically laughing ... naked ... covered with the blood of he non-believers. F...

So. Plan B again. I can bring Amidar (as last year), which is a cool game in my opinion and the cab is not that bad. Or I can bring Cosmic Alien. On of the most beautiful cabs ever but the game slightly ... hmmm ... not that good.

What to do? ???

Sorry to hear that, would have loved to play Video Pinball again (first time was at Funspot). However, I am so glad that it didn´t make you so said that you got really drunk and totally forget to come this Saturday.

About the game, pleae bring Amidar, it indeed is the better game. IMO

Ok! Amidar it shall be ... :)

I'm pretty happy that you guys don't kick me out. I will bring beer to ease everybodys mind (including mine) over the loss of another great Atari cab at the Eurocade. Amidar is ok though.

Anyway. The Cavemans will arrive on friday. Hope I can drop off my cab then and have a drink with the crew already.

OK, see you on Friday, By the way, it is not allowed to bring your own drinks inside the sound & Vision Building, unfortunately. And drinking inside the building is only allowed in the bar area. Houserules.  :)

So you better put all the huge cans directly in my car, I will take care of them.  ;) ;D

A personal note......now that I have still time.

Guys.....it is going to happen.

1 more boring day of regular work and our minds (well at least that of the Eurocade crew) will be set to only one thing: make a big success of this venture we embarked on, over half a year ago.

I don't think you can even imagine the number of e-mails, facebook postings, forum postings we have done in that time. Numerous calls, a couple of face to face meetings and an gigantic stack of TIME went into this.

We have done it with a lot of love !

The man who should be mentioned and thanked first of all of us is Gyruss, or Poppe, or Pieter. He has been through a lot to get this of the ground and sometimes I was really glad I was not in his shoes.

He was the middle man between all parties, Sound & Vision, Eurocade, Retroludix, Chris-the-art-work-man, Magixbuttons and Nozomi and thus got all the sh.... and still managed to keep being a nice guy  ;D ;D

I haven't been the easiest guy for him either sometimes. Sorry for that Pieter !
But it was always with the success of RGE in mind. And we always stayed the best of friends, I even think we grew in that way.

I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed their part already, in whichever way or form. Without all your help, this wouldn't have been possible !!

I personally believe that this is a unique event in the history of our country, maybe in Europe.
Never has such a fine collection of classic arcade video games been brought together at one spot, available for the public to play and enjoy them all.

I am very proud to be on the Eurocade crew, a bunch of varied guys with each his talents that contribute to this mad idea we made real.

I can't spend time on-line much tomorrow. Friday I will be TOTALLY off-line, like the most of us, so if you still have to say or ask anything, do it ASAP so we can handle it.

All info should be on www.eurocade.eu for your trip.

Those who will bring cabs will still get an e-mail with final information tomorrow.

Drive safely, can't wait to see you all !

Oh, and one more thing: GAME ON !!!

I really look forward to the weekend, I'm really curious about the number of people that will come. I hope it will be busy, but I also hope it will still be possible to play on the cabs with so many people being there.

After all, it's not that often you get to play these games......

But what ever happens, this will be a amazing advertisement for the hobby. And I like the idea that dozens of people will be playing my MK2.

Jörg, that's bad, I was really looking forward to play the Video Pinball  :'(

What chassis is in there? Maybe someone has a replacement for the event :)

To be honest...I was a little disappointed that we should bring Bishi Bashi (which is a great and fun game) instead of an old original but I understand why you wanted it. Sop I'm glad we can at least bring the Star Castle-cocktail with a unique (and very retro-style mounting plate with chairs) :)  We attached the artwork yesterday. IMHO it looks far too modern for the game/table but it will do the job...people know what game they are playing ;)

see ya!

The Retro game Experience is all about showing the visitors The Gaming History from the early days up to the year 2000, consoles and arcade games. We do not specifically aim at the real golden oldies from the early eighties, although they take a good chunk of the games that are there, fortunately. And there will be lots of visitors who only gamed in the late eighties and nineties and we want to please them also. That is why Bishi Bashi is totally in place.  :) , like MK2, 'modern' fighters, etc.
