vernimark & bsurfer - 4days Euro RoadTrip
« on: May 17, 2014, 07:42:20 PM »
Hi guys,

this is the story of my 1st roadtrip in another country,  (oh, well we crossed almost all boundaries in central Europe, passing through Austria, Germany, France, Belgium, Swiss and back to Italy), featuring 9 arcades pick up, with a great travel buddy: Marco (aka vernimark), the trip ended after about 3000km.

Everything started a couple of months ago when I decided to buy from DarthNuno one of my ever favourite games: BattleZone :o, but the abundant snowfalls we had this year and some work related issues stopped me until the 2nd week of May...

Meanwhile, I heard on ArcadeItalia's board that another guy was looking for companion and planning an 'EuroTrip':
 it was definitely THE SIGN OF FATE!!!

anyway this is the story of our trip:

8th of May 2014, around 9 am, departure from Trento (Italy)

heading to Berlin on route E45 [A22 Trento - Brennero - A13 Innsbruck]

We are on the right way :D

under an heavy rain, I was wandering... how many cabs can be powered up by these generators???

while Marco was driving on highway to Berlin on route 9 the dx deflector glass exploded

finally in Berlin, we found Thomas (and the 1st cabs' load) waiting for us:

- Omega Race cabaret (bsurfer)
- Circus (made in Italy with original boardset, for pieroandreini)
- Rally X cabaret (lutorkan)
- Olympia Caterpillar (vernimark)
- Olympia Vega (vernimark)

9th of May, about 7am heading to Bremen and it's still raining...

Marco fixed the glass with tape and a CD front cover, tested and working up to 120km/h

some load arrangement before the 2nd load:

and now it's time to pick up these cabs:
- Star Castle
- Omega Race ur
- Gyruss

heading to Arlone and time to sleep for a while...

...and to eat something  :ghost:

...naturally it's raining:

We arrived in Arlone, pause for a coffee with Bruno, what else?

Ah, time to pick up BattleZone and some nerd talk.

Bruno explaining me how Galaxian Theater works (after we played it :D)

driving back to Home through Swiss:

we did it!

Finally @home:

The End (+2980km):

really cool, guys! :)
Looking for Dragons Lair 1 or 2, Space Ace, Double Dragon, Robotron and yeah... a Shinobi would be cool, too!

It was great to meet you, guys! It was of course a real pleasure to have you both in the Lair.
Hope you like your new toys, enjoyed the French Belgian fries and hope that broken glass didn't cause you too much trouble on the way back!
Regarding the loading of the Battlezone inside your van, it's for me the most incredible Tetris game I've ever seen with cabinets!... I was sure it won't fit... and I was wrong, well done!
Got that BZ since so many years now... tried to repair it several times but no luck... But because that cabinet is your graal, I'm sure will put much effort than I to repair it!  ;)
Forza Italia!  :)
