Thank you very much, Any. And yes, I understand the quality would be better than the US cabinets as Atari built their cabinets with only a maximum 5 year life. It was their policy, they built things quite economically to make maximum profit, as any other company today does. They weren't built to last for second hand users like us.
But, no one can argue the fact that Atari-designed cabs had simply the best looking and most innovative forms of all times. Just look at the I-Robot/Major Havoc/Return of Jedi types of cabinet, or the Blasteroids and even Vindicators cabinets. Woodcrafting artworks, however maybe not as compatibe with many games/controls.
Italians always had a very developed culture in history regarding art and creative handcrafting. I would really like to see more italian cabinets and artwork. Do you have any pictures please?
And nice comparison with your Zaccaria vs MK3 cab about durability in outdoor environment. I think this may be thanks to Zaccaria maybe built their cabinets of 'lamell' panels? I am not sure that the word 'lamell' is correct in english, it's a swedish word, however it is a wooden panel which unlike normal chip-wood consists of several wooden beams glued together sideways, and then covered and glued with a thin wooden layer on both sides to stabilize the 'beams' inside. This type of board is without doubt the best panel to build *any* typ of furniture or cabinet. It withstands humidity, it is very light and very durable to impacts. But it is so expensive.
