I think gay (http://interglot.com/dictionary/en/nl/translate/gay?l=nl|en) is an even better translation than just plain old happy.  ;D

Found out that the word Merry is very similar to Gay. But I refuse to use the first one, it's one of the ugliest words I know. Can words be ugly? I think so. Makes me think of a horse mouth from Anky van Grunsven. Creep!
