It's been a long time, but I've finally started writing about my trip to Hong Kong and Tokyo! I mentioned it in this old thread (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=3127). My arcade interest cooled down a bit after I returned, but now I'm back and eager again, and I'm making a series of posts on my blog.
I must give a big thank you to gyruss for suggesting to visit Joypolis, it was absolutely great! ;D
I'll update this thread with links to the stories as I am posting them. There will be about 10-11 parts in total. I hope you don't mind that I am just linking to the posts, not adding all the pictures and text here.
Part 1 - Nan Fung Centre, Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong (http://slowcade.blogspot.com/2012/07/hong-kong-and-tokyo-november-2011-part.html)
Part 2 - City Landmark, Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong (http://slowcade.blogspot.com/2012/07/hong-kong-and-tokyo-november-2011-part_10.html)
Part 3 - Big Apple and Sega Gigo, Akihabara, Tokyo (http://slowcade.blogspot.com/2012/07/hong-kong-and-tokyo-november-2011-part-3.html)

Thank you for your comment. :)
I have posted a new part:
Part 4 - Club Sega, Akihabara, Tokyo (http://slowcade.blogspot.com/2012/07/hong-kong-and-tokyo-november-2011-part-4.html)
This post is a bit on the sad side, but it will get better next time. :D

Thanks for these pictures.
Too bad you didn't try any of these 'pod games'. Do these games are multi players only?
-
Do these games are multi players only?
I'm not really sure. I didn't try them because of a variety of things... First of all, I felt they were a bit annoying and taking up too much space. It seems Asian boys are very much into big robots and mechs, and I'm not, really..
But the biggest reason was maybe that I felt intimidated by these games. I was a bit afraid to test them, because they looked a bit complicated.
I'm going to Hong Kong again in October. I'll try them then and report again. ;D

Whichever way we look at it, I am 1000% jealous that there still IS an arcade scene in Asia....

Nice vacuum cleaner you have on glass. ;D
-
It's the belgian version of R2D2, perfect co-pilot. ;)
-
It looks like it's in great condition! Or is that the game you need a new glass for?
-
Yes, it is, it's superscratched.
It's not really in top condition, it just looks better on pictures but the game is really unique (with the 2 joysticks and no buttons) and very fun.
It should be Eurocade3 ready if you want to give it a try :)

I'm actually planning to go! :) I talked to Arch about it the other day. This year I checked plane tickets too late, so it got too expensive.

After looking back on my pictures and seeing two Bishi Bashi cabs I couldn't handle it anymore. ;)
I have ordered Bishi Bashi Special for Playstation. Looking forward to playing it! ;D
