I started of with the Back to the future trilogy, almost in one go. What can I say, they still hold up very well. The twists in timelines etc. are still brilliant. It was funny, my son said he found part two really complicated because of all the storyline "touching" eachother. He likes part three the best, I bet because of the Wild West setting.. I still rate all three at 8.5
Next was Ferris Buellers day off because I think I may have only seen it once BITD. either this movie was crap to start off with or it has aged immesively. (or maybe I have simply grown too old) I give it a 5.
Next was Stripes. I liked that one BITD and could actually laugh about it, but not this time, probably because I already knew the jokes. Still I give it a 6
Up next is.....Ghostbusters !!!
So what movies from the 80s do you guys suggest ??
-
i'd go for Goonies ! ;)
-
Gimme a genre ;) I must admit that I'm mostly intrested in the teenager slasher genre but here and there there might be a flick that I have seen while waiting for the next Jason experience. :P
-
Indiana Jones trilogy maybe? ;)
-
i'd go for Goonies ! ;)
Good suggestion, I had never seen that BITD but I saw it about half a year ago because it was mentioned on the arcade forums. Fun movie for sure !

Yeah, like BTTF I have that on DVD box so watch it every now and then...absolutely brilliant to this day IMHO. I do think I will have to see part four again, only saw that in theatre IIIRC.
@PRC i am not a horror fan...

I also recently watched "The Black Hole" (70s movie) and it was so much fun to watch it. It looks like a 50s movie in many ways. I had totally forgotten about it.
I am thinking about Alien and maybe even 2010 a space oddisey....LOL

Ok .. I see ... this is all about fun movies. So here are one of my favourites 80's funny movies: The Sure Thing (I can litterally speak almost every line of this one, seen it a few dozend times!), The Bachelor Party, Stand by me (Epic!), Joysticks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joysticks_(film) best Arcade Movie ever ;) might not be safe for kids though)

Raging Bull
Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
Blade Runner

Once Upon a Time in America
Aliens
Evil Dead 2
The Killer (Dip Huet Seung hung)
But you can always skip those and just watch Apocalypse Now again, best movie of all time!

Definitely + 1 for Dark Crystal,The Goonies and Barbarella.
Try Karate Kid for the positive energy, Star Fighter for the cab, Gremlins for the X-mas magic, War Games for the talking computers, BMX Bandits for Nicole Kidman, Big Trouble in Little China if you like "Mystical, Action, Adventure, Comedy, Kung Fu, Monster, Ghost Stories" and of course: The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension!!!
Edit: Flash Gordon!

sorry, a little bit late, but here is my favorite list of 80s Movies:
NO. 1: BEAT STREET!!!!!
No. 2: Back to the Future
No. 2: BIG
No. 2: RAIN MAN!!!
No. 5: The Secret of my Success
and from the 90´s:
Groundhog Day
-
Come on Guys,
War Games!
it even has a classic arcade in it, and it still holds up really well.
-
Agreed but thats the reason why I saw it a year or two again...indeed survived pretty well...
The Secret of my success YEAHHHHH!!! TOTALLY 80s !!!!
Well...not really 80s but I suddenly realised I had never seen Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan !!! (Shame on me!)
What a TOTALLY brilliant movie...I dont believe I have ever been laughing about a movie so much before (maybe at A Fished Called Wanda....)
Of course it takes more than two brain cells to understand what it really is about and it is funny that the government of Kazakhstan was so worried about it while the real target is a totally diffenent ..........:p
