HI guys,
I'm here with a new project:
PAC MAN - Scratch Built Replica
After Galaga cab: https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=402.0
it's time for another Namco's classic arcade.
My idea was to build a Nintendo Donkey Kong cab from scratch.... but to much problems with pieces (coin door, bezel, etc....) these are the three cab that I would, so
....it's PAC TIME :pac: :ghost:
already found pieces:
(http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/6682/proj1bc5.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
original 1980 control panel e coin door (need restorations) :spaceace: :spaceace::
(http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/4817/proj2yd2.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
so... i'm almost ready, I need arts from Twobits and Marquee (already in custums here in Italy) and a little help from you guys and .... Bruno   :-* :-* :P
can you confirm me these measures?
(http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/9369/1marqueerd5.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
(http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/8171/2coindoorrj9.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
(http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/1380/3altezzaeprofonditard5.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
(http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/8688/4dietroyo5.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
(http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/5962/5fiancoql5.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
(http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/5143/6sopract0.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
Bruno I know that you're busy with your gameroom  , but no problem, when you have time.... thanks in advance :-* :-* :-*
:pac: :ghost: :spaceace: :spaceace: :spaceace:
-
Yeeeeessssssssss :) You're back with a new project :-*
Following your beautiful Galaga Project, I'm sure this Pac-Man scratch build Replica (tm) will kick ass 8) :-*
Ok, let me few days for the measures my friend, no problem ;)
-
Great!!! Thank you Bruno :-* :-* :-*
:spaceace:
-
You are lucky, I'm testing my new VAIO laptop and network/wifi/internet access inside my game room. The Pac Man is just behind me, so here we go :
1. Oppss... the picture doesn't really see it, but it's a curve, all the way :-\
2. 61 mm
3. 463 mm
4. 840 mm
5. Ouch... it's a curve too, but at the bottom I would say 1712 mm
6. 338 mm
7. 186 mm
8. 1093 mm
9. 7 mm
10. not pictured ?
11. 70 mm
12. 22 mm
13. 80 mm
:spaceace:
-
WOOOooooooooooooooooooooooWWWWWW!!!!!
Thanks !!! Thanks !!!! Very fast and accurate like always :-* :-* :spaceace: :spaceace:
Sorry Bruno, for the first picture (marquee zone) I can say about 3 Cm more or less?
Ok .... as for the Galaga template I should correct some jukobud errors  :P ok no problems ..... let's go :spaceace: :spaceace:
Thanks again Bruno !!!!!!
:-* :-*
-
No problem ;)
Ok, regarding the first picture, I would say approx :
35mm from the upper part of the marquee
37mm at the middle of the marquee
45mm at the lowest part of the marquee
-
Great Thank you !!!
:pac:
-
Sorry Bruno, I've a doubt ..... ???
the measure N.5 (1712 mm) is from the floor or from the base of the cab?
(http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/1380/3altezzaeprofonditard5.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
Thank you :-* :-*
-
the measure N.5 (1712 mm) is from the floor or from the base of the cab?
(http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/1380/3altezzaeprofonditard5.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
I think it's from the the base of the cab', not from the floor  But I'll check tomorrow once again (it's too cold this evening to go outside my house ::) :P) ;D
-
Ok thanks Bruno :-* :-*,
But I'll check tomorrow once again (it's too cold this evening to go outside my house ::) :P) ;D
I can understand you, snow and cold here in northern Italy, I imagine in Belgium :ghost:
-
I've just do it again 8) ... I would say 1712mm from the base of the cab, not from the floor, but once again, I cannot say it's an accurate value because the top is curved and my sizing tool is not easy to manipulate alone for such big measure
Hope it can help :-\
-
Perfect!!! :-* :-*
Thanks :spaceace:
-
.... With new Bruno's measures I can start a new perfect :-* template:
(http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/6418/new1wa4.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
Control panel test for right position:
(http://img386.imageshack.us/img386/1166/new2xv5.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
Ok :-* :-*
(http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/369/new5dk0.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
Ok.. next week will begin the serious work , MDF etc .... :spaceace: :spaceace: :ghost: :ghost:
-
Cool,
The CP placement was actually the toughest part of when I built my Pacman. Best of luck with yours!
-
Yes Amadama you're right (CP zone is difficult  I will do my best) and thanks for support :-* :-*
One question: where you bought the sideart and kickplate arts? From Twobit?
Thanks.
-
Ok, Wood (MDF) bought, tomorrow I can begin serious work:

:pac: :pac: Today is the pac day :spaceace: :spaceace:
cross the fingers.....and let's go:
I use the template on first piece of MDF:
(http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/4359/templatesumdfbp4.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
ok this is the PAC profile:
(http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/8404/profilosegnato1um9.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
first side cut:
(http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/7120/side1tagliatoyf7.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
not bad....
and both sides cut, time to smooth with sandpaper:
(http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/2404/2sidecartavetraremn4.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
after 1 hour this is the result:
(http://img367.imageshack.us/img367/7923/2sideokew3.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
(http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/223/2sideok2vn9.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
I am very happy with the result !!! :spaceace: :spaceace:
:pac: :pac:

... and you've found THE solution by the way :if you don't find the cab you're looking for... you build it 8)

Thanks Bruno!!! and thanks for the space available on this great forum :-* :-* :-*
yes this is (unfortunately) my only solution :-\ ..... here in Italy it's impossible to find a dedicated cab, and I'm to far away from Germany, France or Belgium .... so I build myself the cab I want (If possible :P)
PS:
in Italy I know only one guy that has a original Donkey Kong cab (imported from US) and a Puckman cab, Italian version .... no other .... :( :( :'(
-
Today I started the assembly of the cab: :pac: :pac:
L bracket rulez .... :spaceace:

it's all for today ...
:pac: :pac:

Looking good scr33n! I'm really looking forward to seeing you finish this.
Polaris, if you go to the BYOAC site search for a user named Spystyle. He made up a printable template for pacman.
Also, here's the posting on how I built mine (I will take another picture of how it looks today, I never did post the pic with the coin door on it).

Lovely :-*
What you're doing is great, and very helpful for others 8) I mean publishing a maximum of pictures is the best way to show how to do things !
The end is near... but beware, applying these HUGE vinyls is not very hard BUT you've to do it very carefully and slowly, and with the help of someone else to help you.

I want one !
But unfortunately, I don't have your woodworking talents, so, dunno if I can do this one day ...
Wanted to make a mini pac man replica due to the WAF.
The thing that scares me the most is all the T-molding preparing thing.
Really good job, you're now a lucky (pac) man !

Hi there Scr33n,
nice work!
Checked your other "selfmade" arcades, too.
Well done.
It is my aim to do the same.
Thanks for the nice pics on all of them.
My first project would be a Pac-Man, too. Do you have the exact measurements in cm for me?
Jakobbuds seemed to be not quite exact.
thanks
Oliver

Wow,
Your Pac-man (and all your other builds) look superb!
Really awesome Scr33n!
This inspires me to finish mine (built from modified Jakobud plan, artwork was printed by me on adhesive vinyl). See thread below:
