Nice shirts on popfunk, but pricey. If they were closer to $10 a piece I'd order a lot of them.

Dragon's Lair / Space Ace / Space Ace comic books
« on: April 22, 2010, 04:55:14 PM »
Saw some Space Ace comic books in the store a few days ago. Very nicely drawn and the colors were vibrant. Not sure if anyone here seen them.. I think they started in 2009 and have 5 or 6 issues out so far.. maybe more, not sure:

Well, it's time for the third hint!

Sexy. Great game also.

You ever play Irritating Maze from SNK / Neo Geo? It used a roller ball also. I love that game.

Arcade Lifestyle / Look at this awesome arcade..

They opened in 2004.. BARCADE BROOKLYN!

It's a bar! It's an arcade! It's got pool tables!

This website might be specially interesting to you here because there's a button that shows you the whole process they went through in making the bar.

http://www.barcadebrooklyn.com/

I don't know what games they have currently, but here's what I see:

Off-Road, Outrun, Donkey Kong, Ms. Pac-Man, Gauntlet, Asteroids, Rampage, Road Blasters (I think), Crystal Castles, something from Universal or Taito, Tetris, Zaxxon, Arkanoid, Phoenix, Pac-man, Tapper, and more I think I can't see.

I'm going to write them to tell them they should list on their website what current games they have and update it every now and then.

I should suggest they get a dancing game.. that sounds like a good match with drunks.

Oops I forgot Funspot's website:

I wish I would have known you came.. when was this exactly? I'm in New Jersey. Taking the train I'm about an hour away.

About 45 minutes from me there's a place that has about 80 pinballs and some arcades. He's got a few things I'd like to see him get working some day: Hyperball pinball and Joust Pinball. From 7 to 10 pm you can play all you want for $10 bucks.

Not sure what else is good in the way of gaming, but I'd have found something. :)

You should head up to Fun Spot in New Hampshire if you come here again. It's pretty huge. They have a huge classic game section and tournaments there.

'Business' Area : Buy/Sell/Trade / $100 in free joysticks (or other parts)
« on: November 25, 2009, 10:14:37 PM »
Some of you might need this.. it's mostly electronics parts and what not, but I mentioned joysticks since they do have a couple.

After 7 years, Sparkfun is giving back to the community.

Nobody gives away a free physical thing. There's always a catch. So up front: you have to pay shipping. Other than that, it's open season.

    * $100 max per household
    * You pay shipping
    * Limit of $100,000 in giveaways for the day
    * Starts 9AM MST January 7th, 2010
    * Ends 11PM MST January 7th, 2010 (or when we hit $100k, whichever comes first)
    * Rainchecks for popular items will be allowed

I am going to try and pick up an Arduino Starter Kit: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=9284 and build some stuff.

Maybe someone has some other things I can build with it and buy parts from Sparkfun.

Here's the website:

Arcade Lifestyle / This makes me sad..
« on: November 11, 2009, 01:40:49 PM »
Over in the US we have a TV channel on cable called "G4".. it's like tech type shows. You know about computers, technology, video games, etc. G4 used to be alright in my book and they used to care about gaming, but I haven't watched in years because that channel has gone to crap. They don't even care about us gamers anymore.

They have a TV show where they wreck things, called Human Wrecking Balls. They are going to show what big boys they are and smash arcade games and pinballs in this season:

Quote
Arcade Armageddon: The Pumphreys get a chance to kick some serious asteroid in the classic game Arcade. From pinball to foosball, it’s game over for this game room.

I have those guy's pictures tattooed in my brain and have set myself to hating them. Here's a link so you can see them for yourself:

I'm probably going to complain to the network.

Arcade Lifestyle / Re: All CNC machined arcade cabinet kit

I would totally be into a portable MAME cabinet like that size. One joystick and button is fine for me.

Those aren't motherboards in there those from a PC. Those are actual home consoles. He hacked Jakks Pacific tv games (http://jakks.com/node/511) in there for joystick and buttons.

Arcade Lifestyle / Re: Talk about childhood memories....

The one place I used to go was an indoor fleamarket (car boot to some of you). It was one big building consisting of about 200 wooden booths. People would sell all sorts of stuff. Actually there were two different ones I used to go to. Both of them had a small arcade in the back. One of the places even sold video games. I remember they had a sit down Sinistar machine. I always used to play Rad Mobile. They had a sit down version with hydraulics in it. The whole vehicle tilted when you were driving on curves on the screen.

One of the fleamarkets had a booth that sold Atari 2600 games in the early 80's. I have very good memories, even pictures in my head, about going there and just seeing tons of games. Every inch was filled with games. If I was older back then I'd have been buying everything I could. If I knew what I know now I'd have bought a lot of the weirder stuff that might be worth more later on.

I don't think games today hold as much value or sentiment for many. There's just a small case and DVD inside. I love cartridges! Have something nice to hold.

Technical Area / Re: Applying vinyl. How not to do it, and how to do it :D
« on: September 28, 2009, 05:14:45 AM »
Agreed. Looks fabulous. Great job. I find vinyl tough to do.. I've attempted putting things on a number of things..

.. most notorious was my car. I bought a vinyl sticker for my rear car window. So, the guy prints me out my custom image of a kitty cat.

I was going to adhere the vinyl to the inside.. because I figured rain and snow would be bad for it. I didn't realize that he printed it backwards because it's supposed to be applied to the outside of the window.

So, I get in the back window.. I got my squeegee thing to get all the air bubbles out. It's hard to reach up into the back window and the vinyl gets caught on the seat. It starts sticking together and you can't get it unstuck. I got all pissed off and crumpled it up. lol. $30 wasted.

So, I go to buy another one. I believe the guy gave me a few dollars off since he didn't have to scan my image in. He already had it. Figure I'll give it another go. Same problem, even though I was more careful this time.

Third time I went somewhere else and asked the guy if he could attach it for me if I paid him. He says no problem. He actually informed me just how durable vinyl is. He says it will outlast my car even on the outside.
