Here it is GALAXIAN, made in Japan by TOMY in the 'Pocket Game' collection.
Let's define this ...as a mini 'pachinko'
Made by TOMY in 1981, it belongs to this Pocket games collection
Note the back side of my model ...
Star Shooter??? ...not Galaxian? Here's a 'theory' :
The US release is called Star Shooter but the 1981 catalogue pictures what appears to be the Japanese Pocketmate version of the game called Galaxian. Tomy catalogues sometimes did picture the Japanese version of the game and so I believe that the only version released in the US was called Star Shooter (
source).
Strange, I got that one from US
Anyway, here's how to play. You have to shoot the 8 balls...
...with this button (a simple spring under it) ...
...and aim for the 4 holes...
...that represent the 4 rows of the Galaxian armada :
When a ball enters an hole, you hit a row... BOOM!
When you fired your 8 balls, the game is over. There's no score calculation, you've to do it yourself
There is an second button on the top : It resets the rows of bees, and it releases the balls for a new game
In 1981, it was the cheap way to have a 'Galaxian thing' at home/in the school playground
