Yeah I know, but he had the chance of buying it _before_ I did...

plus....I first want to get it running to see if it's possible to get a good working machine out of it. I think my mind is made up :)

Anyone interested in my Asterock ?

The LL has been picked up and should arrive late afternoon/early evening :)

I have been going through a struggle with the seller of that mission lights board. As mentioned he wanted a crazy 58 dollars for shipping. I sent him 3 messages through e-bay asking him to ship it to my uncle & aunt in the US but I think he was scared of my being a scammer or something.

He finally agreed now to ship it to them though ! pffffff.....

The CP harness should start on it's way today too...gonna order a nice new piece of plexi as a bezel, although I still would love to find glass that is tinted AND anti-glare but I've been searching for it before without much results....

Well....I was away this  "Pinksterweekend" for another great hobby, we competed again at the "Mars en Showedstrijden" in Hamon Belgium (www.marsenshow.be) and had three days of brilliant fun....and scored a very nice 92,10 points but did not prolong our championship of 2 years ago....but we were very satisfied with the result because the preparation was far from optimal.

Anyway, on saturday evening Thomas delivered the machine at our home. Have to thank Yolanda (Eurocade visitors probably know her) for helping lifting it out of the van because Wilma is unable to ATM. Luckily the machine has 4 wheels so it was very easy for Thomas to put it in the game room.

If you ever need transport from the UK to mainland Europe, you can contact him, here's his website:
http://tgbservices.co.uk/

Communication was absolutely perfect, almost direct replies to all e-mails, pick-up and delivery as promised, fair price, I recommend him.

So when I got back home yesterday evening I was so tired I didn't even had a look (which says pretty much how tired I was). But today I had taken the day off because I knew I would be pretty wrecked so here are the first pics:

Impressively well packed in a blanket !!!  (Don't know if I can ever return it Paul ?)

Why is is that I always have to think about Etienne when I see these stickers ?? ;) ;) :

Looks like the ran out of printed serial stickers at one point:

Ouch, pic our of focus:

The rare LL=>Asteroids PCB:

Yeah, he seems to do a lot of work to Hungary, he was heading there now too.

Did some first checking. Replaced the UK with a European plug and took the plunge. I have neck-glow but that's it. Red LED on the spotkiller so probably no signal coming from the AD board.
There's a red LED on the AD board though.

Checking out the machine brings me to the conclusion that this is NOT a factory modded cab.
Why? Well here we go:

Exhibit a:

The monitor has a clear burn of Lunar Lander. It's not too clear on this picture, but I can see the "mountain" of LL and on top you can see texts like "Altitude" "Velocity" etc. All signs of that it has run as a LL for a long time. There is also Asteroids burn though, so it has been running (apparently still a shorter time because it is less) as Asteroids for some time too.

Exhibit b:

Just another Asteroids maquee right ? Wrong.....where is the Atari logo ?? Not to mention the copyright text.....

Exhibit c:

If you look at this picture you can see that the Asteroids artwork is on a thick layer. First I thought it was one of those "short" version CPO's from Arcadeshop.com but it was too thick.

Also: there is a white line around the artwork AND the game's instructions, which normally are on the bezel, are printed on this CPO !

So I removed it to see what was under it. The lead me to

Exhibit d:
{WARNING, THIS EXHIBIT MAYBE SHOCKING TO CLASSIC ARCADE MACHINE LOVERS !}

Ouch. Is that sad or what ? Maybe I can cut-out the Atari logo and make it a key-hanger ? everything else is close to EOL.

All this proves to me that it left the factory (in the US, see the serial stickers) as a Lunar Lander and was operated that way for quite some time. Then it was converted with apparently a bootleg kit.

Some more pics, "as is" when received:

Worst part of the side-art....I may try some touching up. I'm not annoyed by it at all, knew it was there and IMHO there's little wrong with it, it's like wrinkles on a human...

And then I couldn't resist to try this:

I just put it on loosely to have a look...

Yeah, the sides are in very good condition, I guess some touch ups will make it close to perfect. :D
The keychain idea is also great, there is not too much people with an original LL cp Atari logo in his pocket. ;D

Nooo, that destroyed LL CP is soo sad to look at, maby Mr. Vector king can use it for a better repro (looks like the colors are intact..)

Anyways, had some time today to scan my LL CPO, heres the result (scanned at 300 DPI - and sorry for the big pictures...)

Saved with compression rate 0

MACRO: Saved with compression rate 12

LMK if i should scan the entire CPO...
Later today ill attempt to scan the Mission Select Plexi...

-EDIT-
Have scanned the Mission Select Plexi, but it´s not that good a scan because it´s 6mm of plexi before the printed stuff... :-\
But here it is anyways...
200 DPI scan, compression rate 6:
