Title: Yesterdays Is Expanding!!

Well, the gameroom has been getting crowded, and time to expand.  But before starting on this, I need to fix a few things around the house to improve security and to keep from dying of a heart attack doing "too hard" yard work related stuff.    :evil:

First thing:  Protecting and covering the entrance to the game room.

Before, it was wide open, fighting weather and bugs to get in to the game room, not to mention being a scaredy cat going back and forth from the house to the game room in the middle of the night thinking someone might be outside!  One time, the cat came running around the corner out of the dark, and I almost died!  I'm such a sissy.

The Second thing to fix before beginning:  Paving in the areas around the game room!  Besides nearly push mowing myself into the grave, rocks keep getting thrown and I'm tired of worrying about breaking windows with flying debris... So lets fix this forever:

Hello!   :D    Yes..   Here's the plan:

The new addition is going to be the dedicated "Arcade Game Room" space. (with a place for console gaming too)  Since the majority of my game room is basically a museum, I want to maximize on this orientation.  I'm going to move all the arcade games and related signs, posters, & displays in the new area,  It will stay in the dark with black light illumination... Just like it should!  and now the Yesterdays Sign will be overhead of the entrance ... Like it should be!!  ;D  ;D  ;D  ....and all the now free space in the other side will allow me to display all of my collection, with room to add more!  no more stored stuff!   Happy Happy Joy Joy  ;D

They want to complete storage building first, then gameroom addition, since I need to be present when they open the wall up.

You can see that the beams for the game room are placed on the slab and ready to be set, I'll bet they will be tomorrow!

Time to open the wall to the new wing!!!  Oh, how I was in panic over dust and blowing outside air... No problem today! A cool front passed by the day before, cool temps and very low humidity!  ;D

 They waited till all the walls were up and were closing in the ceiling when they opened up the wall!   :D

For the new section, I chose a brighter black-light carpet!!  ;D

Secured them down with this... Liquid Nails!  If you glue anything down with this, it will never ever come loose!  I once had to remove some wood glued down with this... pure hell!!  This stuff lives up to it's name!

In Europe, such 'black light' carpets cost really too much  :evil: I wanted to go that way for my V3, but the high price x the big surface = just too much for a such purpose  :-\

Now it's time to set up the console gaming center:

After a visit to IKEA  ;D

They have nice stuff! I found a EXPEDIT white case, with all the spaces, looks perfect for holding game systems!

So, after getting 2 EXPEDIT cases, I found these nifty LED light kits DIODER!  They change colors! 

After assembly, I glued and bolted them together, put floor sliders on them and then wired up the LED Lights!

I'm currently working on that.... multi power strips attached to the back... and 3 selector switches for all the "video in" systems.  I'll run a cable to the coax antenna in for Atari etc.  I'll probably need to get controller extension cables for some systems like nes/snes/n64/genesis.

Some systems will not fit in the cubby holes, like ColecoVision, So I'll just set up some shelves for those.

Look up L1 Games on youtube and watch his gameroom build.  His setup with automatic input switchers and clean install is amazing.  New addition is looking great Barry looking forward to more updates.

I thought about that, but it would've made it too tall,  The T.V. is 75 inches.... especially with all that weight, might would be unstable... The cabinet from IKEA is pretty large, I guess the camera makes it seem smaller..... I'll post more pix soon...     ;D

Oh, I supposed this is meant to sit in a higher position...so you plan to leave it on the floor??

I suggest to put it on three columns to rise it at least to table height....narrow shelves, for example, where you can put addition stuff like controllers, games etc.

This sort of thing is what I have in mind....maybe a little bigger so the boxes have a larger space to sit on.

Now I can start my OCD of the big part of the game room!  I'm going to do a complete takedown of everything... I enjoyed decorating initially when I first set up, but I feel it was under pressure as I was still finishing stuff on the house after move in..

The main goal of the extension was to get rid of the crammed & clutter appearance of the game room!

So.. OFF WE GO!!  ;D

A few small updates...

Painting and matching up all the "oddball" display cases.  Now they all have matching color and now have lights, thanks to another great IKEA find:  LEDBERG LED light kits!  Just a FYI for everyone: LED is superior to florescent bulbs for your collectibles on display!  No fading due to no UV exposure!  LED: Clean light!

Only one bummer so far... The light kits I bought from IKEA didn't come with a power cord!  I wouldn't be upset at this, but a power cord is a "given" and there should have been a sign for that, So we went back to the store... Double bummer... sold out!   I'm not going to make a 3rd trip into Houston, (53 Miles!) so I ordered them online....   :?

Current project:  Fixing up Sega Genesis Display Station.  I has no original stand, been placed on a table with ugly fluorescent light.
