Ok. Will get the "Sprint 2" for free in a couple of days. My friend says it's probably a Atari Crash'n Score from the beginning and is probably right but the control panel is different. But does anyone know which cabinet the  control panel it belongs to and is it a Crash? I have no other picture than this. I don't know if it's a Sprint 2 either..yet..

Thanks

Technical Area / Problem with Gonbes3 Cga to Vga converter
« on: July 23, 2013, 10:17:47 PM »
http://en.gonbes.com/product_detail.asp?menuid=94&id=22

Ok. Bought this "for fun". Wanted to test a Nintendo pcb on it. In this case DK3. The inverted video doesn't matter. Just for test. When connected..nothing. Tested a few things for a couple of days and I did by mistake some progress.

When I connect the videocable (RGB C-sync and ground) from the pcb to the converter absolutely nothing happens. Gets a signal though. I did by mistake remove the ground cable today. Blam! Finally a picture but not really a stable one.

What the hell could be causing this? I mean, no ground where ground should be?

Maybe a long shot but does anyone has a clue?

Thanks

Arcade Lifestyle / Advice what to do regarding import or build?
« on: May 22, 2013, 01:58:35 PM »
Ok, maybe there are lots of threads about the similar but since the status of our hobby changes all the time so..

The main question; I badly want more Nintendo cabs. My perfect setup would be DK, Dk j.r, DK 3, Popeye, Mario Bros and maybe Radarscope.

What should I do? How much would I expect to pay for say Dk 3, Popeye and Mario freight shipped from the US? Also, what are the possibility to find a cab in Europe not THAT far from Sweden (say Germany, Netherlands and UK) Although I guess the gas price, hotel, ferry/bridge/whatever fee would be something like freightship from the USA? If I could buy all three at once in Spain for ex. I would not hesitate to go by car but not one cab.

Another thing is that I gladly could use the Nintendo v.s variant and restore them. Maybe these are less expensive also?

The last thing which I would consider is to scratch build since that would be the "easiest" way. But, THEY ARE NOT ORIGINAL... A restored v.s is another thing but not a scratch built one. And from what I see from the prices for spare parts, damn!

I have played DK and DK j.r alot earlier but when I got my original ones, hey, so much funnier to play! Really! This is how it should be played! Period! I consider myself a gamer foremost but also, well, historian collector.

Last; money isn't really an issue but I will of course not pay astronomical amounts for everything. But if I may choose, I will pay alot more for the original ones. I'm not greedy but it doesn't feel right to pay 600 Euro for a scratch build if I can get an original for 800-1000 shipped?

?

Thanks

Technical Area / Nintendo DK monitor trimming tips?
« on: May 13, 2013, 06:58:59 PM »
Ok. Tested my DK cabs with 300w 220-110v adapter and they both work. At least j.r works 100%. So does DK but the screen is very dark and its very flickery. The colors seems ok too but hard to see. The brightness knob is on max. I would like to have some tips on this issue regarding trimming with the available pots. What does the pots on the neckboard do? The 2 ones on the high voltage trafo? If this doesnt work I will change the pcbs and last re-cap.

Edit: The neckboard pots are only color related? The pots on the hv trafo are brightness and focus...

Well, didn't do the trick anyway. Guess it's cap related?

Thanks.

Technical Area / Some advice for sideart and T-mold?
« on: May 05, 2013, 10:00:53 PM »
Ok, my newly bought Donkey Kong need a new sideart sticker on one side. Where do I buy the best for this? Same question goes for T-mold for both DK and DK j.r.

Sorry if it has been posted already.

Thanks

Arcade Lifestyle / Raiders of the lost Kong(s)
« on: May 04, 2013, 12:45:24 PM »
Ok, this is an semi-autenthic story about what happened Thursday 2 April 2013. Most people in the world would think what happened to be of less significance but some would think it's epic. Jelousy alert! You have been warned!
Ok, woke up as usual at 10.00. Damn, I have more free time than I'm working. (works 10 days and free 20/month) and I'm sooo bored!

Well, what to do today then? Yes, some Donkey Kong j.r via MAME (as all other gamingdays). DK j.r on a Plasma screen? Wtf! Looks like shit and I have to play on a modded Sega-Saturn-Astro-Arcade-joystick as well! Nope, this sucks horseshit.

I really need something real today, but what? Well, well takes a nap on the sofa starts daydreaming me off a little.. Finally inside the inner thoughts of the chaotic inner world of arcade I say for my self - Dear Pacman, of all people in the world, who do I want to be?
(Editors note: this story is originally in Swedish but "Han" means "Him")

Meh, I guess I want to be Billy when I think about it. He IS King og King personified and so am I here on AT (Arkadtorget.se, Swedens only arcadesite). Nope I want a real arcade game this time. Was a looong time ago I bought one. Ok, how common are DK and j.r  here in Sweden then? Let's check AT.. Wtf! No one, NO ONE owns one except a girl living in USA who has logged in once. There were two j.r however but none for sale. So there are none official DK in Sweden! Hell! What to do? Yes, Swedens largest sell/buy site might be the answer. Hmm, FS: Donkey Kong och Donkey Kong j.r arcadegames... Well, well, well got it instantly! BUT, no pictures, telephonenumber or name.. Can't believe what I (not)see. Anyway, got a hint since the ad says they're located in the town of Årjäng.  Well, Årjäng is not so big and only 150km away so I decide, I'll go in blind! Well, outside I... Nooo, why the hell did I buy a Audi TT?

Do I have to cut the cabs in pieces if I ever find them? Nope, let's borrow my stepsons trailer and the Mrs car...

Årjäng, here we cum! Some standard roadtrip-gear not to forget before I go...

15km later. Eh, Årjängstrollet (the Troll of Årjäng. A really ugly statue). Was that all? Can't believe this so I walk around a little where I meet a nice lady in her 40-50-ies in her garden. Eh, excuse me? Do you know where Donkey Kong is? Fugitive from the psychatric ward she answers?...

Eh, no but have you ever heard about the popular Nintendo Game & Watch that was popular in the 80-ies? (this is a standard question I always ask a non-believer when I want to explain who DK is) No answer. But since she doesn't force me out of her garden I guess she know more than I think. Time for some improvising or rather simulation..

She looks at me as if I was insane but she was a little impressed of my show so she takes me a few meters away at the back of the house and points, THERE!

She close the door and I walk to the forest she pointed out.. Nothing, nichts, nada! What the hell!!! The only thing I see beside the trees are a guy in the bushes. His name is apparently Brian and the only thing he says is something like "kill screen"

Anyway, he has some useful info and he tells me of a man called Elof who seems to know more.  He give me an estimate explanation where to find Elof. Closing in now. I arrive to a farm but I can only see trucks and other crap. I keep strolling and.. What in the name of f*ck!, there is Donkey Kong and his son.

Ok, the owner wearing a shotgun asks "what the hell do you want?" Please calm down, I have come for the advertise on Blocket. It didn't really show so much but it seems that I have finally come to the right place? Yes, indeed he answered. I you want Kong you have come to the right place... Unfortunately this man knows what he has so I will not have these cheap. But we agree for 5000 SEK (ca 500 GBP?) A bargain after all.

We do as all Värmlänningar (from the county of Värmland in sweden) does after a closed deal. A real MALE handshake.

Did a quick loading since there are others in our country who wants this with their life. So beutiful colors..What condition!

Finally home! Yes, I AM the Swedish King of Kong now! The (perhaps) only owner of one in this country!!

Technical Area / Racing games with digital gas pedal?
« on: July 22, 2012, 07:10:18 PM »
Ok, not really a technical question but didn't know where to put it...

Anyway, have mameified a crappy pole position cab, originally a Sprint I guess. Have a 360 steering wheel connected via optipac. To My horror? the cab have microswitch pedals.

The main question is, does it really matters regarding playability v.s analog pedals? Will be playing Sprint series, APB and a few others titles only.

Thanks

Technical Area / Help with capacitors on Ultimarc A-pac
« on: April 21, 2012, 06:36:07 PM »
Ok. Been trying to mameify a borrowed Outrun. Have a A-pac v1.1. No problem connecting the pots to the pedals but when I try to calibrate the steering wheel the haircross in windows goes bezerk. Cannnot really explain what happens but when I searched the net I saw something about the capacitors that followed. And that is probably the problem. The thing is, where on earth should I put these caps? On the A-pac? On the pot? I know which capacitor to use with my 5K pots.

Sorry for being stupid! Yes, I have mailed Andy on Ultimarc but guess he will not answer until Monday. Need answers yesterday!!!  ;D

Thanks

Arcade Lifestyle / Short roadtrip for the need of the Green monster...
« on: February 28, 2012, 03:54:07 PM »

Hmm, in desperate need of a new arcade game.

Let's see what Swedens largest selling site has to offer.

Ok, found something. Made a Quick call and haggled like hell. Preliminary deal was made. Brought the usual food.

Small cab. Is my beloved car big enough?

Naa, took the other car.

110 km later, the deal was made.

What could it be?

Even a arcade gamer needs food.

Finally home

Hmm, the screen needs some tweaking and definately a degauss.

All in all, in good shape. Everything works like a dream, except for the screen. Will paint the sides and add some sideart. Can't get all for 150£...

Great!

Technical Area / Quick painting question.
« on: February 28, 2012, 11:56:57 AM »
Edit: I guess this would be in the artwork forum. Sorry.

Ok, bought a Centipede cabaret. Thinking about painting/rolling it's sides white or black and buy sideart stickers.

1. What kind of paint should I use? Oil based or water based? I guess I want the same type as the UR Centipede. Glossy?

2. Personal opinions if I should paint black and use the white sideart or paint white with white sideart?
OR, the same above but whith black sideart?

Thanks.

Arcade Lifestyle / The Quest for Stargate…
« on: February 20, 2012, 07:00:39 PM »
...in Sweden.

Ok, been a fan to this site for awhile but not very active. Love your site Bruno and would love to come visit you someday? Anyway, I was supposed to go with my friends for a roadtrip to Stockholm but had some issues so they had to go alone. My friends were kind enough to post me some pictures. The aim was to get 6 cabinets and 1 was mine.

What a lucky owner...

The only one fully working was…well, Stargate! Very good condition. My friend who has the other cabs in his hands managed to get all working but Asteroids (no enemy shows up except for the Ufos) and Qix still have some issues. The others are now fully working. He also got plenty of PCB:s:

Gemini Wing
Bubble Bobble (original)
Dangar?
New York New York
Revenge of Doh
Homeland?
Wrestlefest
Galaga boot
Q-bert boot
Scramble *2
Super Galaxian
Poolshark
Asteroids Deluxe
Asteroids *4
Superbug *4
Qix *3
+ other arcade related stuff.
The most of them working but haven’t tried all. Everything for £800 ca. Great price!

Ok, choose to post here even if I'm not sure if it's in the correct area.

Anyway, will soon have a Chase H.Q. I'm thinking about doing a Microsoft Dual Strike hack for the steering wheel and pedal. The main question is the pedal. It's only one pedal on my cab, but I have another pedal which have two pedals which I will probably make place for, but don't want to destroy to much on my cab.

How often do you use the break pedals in those games I'm going to play? I'm definately not a newbie on playing arcade games but I haven't spent very much time with driving games.

Here are some examples:

Outrun/Turbo/Outrunners
Virtua Racing
Daytona USA
Sega Rally
Rave Racer
etc...

Anyone?

Thanks

Excellent condition. Shoot me an offer and I'll think about it. Paypal + %3 or banktransfer. Not sure about shipping but probably somewhere around 9 Eur (0.5 kg) within Europe. More to the US and worldwide from Sweden.

Thanks
