[Monitor] Sanyo 20EZ CapKit
« on: November 18, 2010, 10:34:05 AM »
As the topic from gyruss was derailing a bit i thought it would be nice to have all the tech info about the 20EZ in one place.

First i googled for the capkit, then i found a list with caps:

Sanyo 20-EZV  19" (Nintendo)

1µf 50v          C302/C453
1µf250v         C408/C467
10µf50v         C301/C303/C406
10µf250v       C407/C471
22µf50v         C464
47µf10/16v    C458
100µf16/25v  C459
100µf160v     C410/C472
220µf25v       C469
330µf25/50v  C468

source: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=74820.msg774647#msg774647

Then i googled for a picture of the locations of the caps:

i put them together and made a little compilation from the different sources:

click the picture to download a PDF file of the compilation
The * to use high quality and high temperature caps was recommended by Andre a.k.a. Level42   :-*

while google-ing i also found some step by step instructions:
http://www.arcaderestoration.com/index.asp?OPT=3&DATA=4&CBT=3

for your convienience, i copied it in a PDF file:

Then Ckong asked me this:

@Etienne, what is the difference of the 'plus' cap kit from Bob roberts with your list (besides the quantity of cabs of course)? You can find an image of the 'plus cap kit if you google for: Sanyo 20EZ Cap Map Bob Roberts “Plus Kit”. It's a PDF file.

So i googled that and downloaded the PDF:

click the picture to download it as a PDF file

lets see what the differences are..

The extra caps in the "Plus Kit" from Bob Roberts are:

C161            220 µf 16v
C162 (NP)     4,7 µf 25v non polarized
C166            1 µf  50v
C201            10 µf 50v
C202            220 µf 16v
C411 (NP)     4,7 µf 25v non polarized
C454            1 µf  50v
C609            470 µf 10v
C610            1 µf 160v

i think NP means Non Polarized..

The question now is what are the values of the exta caps and what does the "extra" do besides giving you more desolder and solder work  ;)

If anybody knows it, or has the schematics with the values, it would be great.
or maybe someone with a 20EZ by hand and check the values and post them here..

EDIT: Values are in  ;)

also for the "Plus Kit" i made a little compilation from the different sources:

click the picture to download a PDF file of the compilation

next thing to find out ; the soundboard..

click the picture to download it as a PDF file

Resistors don't age normally. No idea why they include them.

I thought the same, so i will not include them  8)

The final partlist is for the "deluxe kit" that is the "Plus Kit" & "Audioboard Kit" together:

Also i asked my local supplier for the costs of the parts:

The standard kit costs ±   € 8,25
The Plus kit costs ±         € 14,-
The deluxe kit costs ±      € 20,-

according to the parts catalog on theyre site they carry :
1. Jianghai Radiale Elco's 105° - 263-serie
2. vishai Radiale Elco's 85° - 037/038-serie

since i mentioned to the guy i want high temperature (105°) i think the prices are for number 1

Sounds like Chinese rubbish to me.

Sorry but for the little extra it costs, I would go with BRANDS. Who wants to do another re-cap in 4 years ?

Panasonic, Nichicon etc. those are the brands to look for.

Thats in this case up to the people that need the caps
this is what i can get at my local supplier

Heck, i dont even have a 20EZ   ;)

from theyre site "Thank you for visiting the home of highest quality capacitors"

thats also what i would say about my products  :D

seriously, i understand your concern, and appriciate your advice/opinion, but i dont know if they are good or bad

I can only say, feel free to take whatever brand and where to get the caps you guys need/like
