Things to do, in this order:

- replace the BIOS battery of the PC with a new one.
- attach an external PC monitor to the PC, enter the BIOS and reset it. Select the autopower on feature in case of AC fail. Select to halt on no errors, like keyboard not attached and so on.
- once you get the PC to boot correctly out of BIOS without any errors reconnect it to the original monitor and I bet also 1) will be fixed at this point. The continuous rolling is caused by the 31 kHz freq. of the PC not supported by the low res arcade monitor when in BIOS mode.

Nailed it !!  The CMOS battery solved evereything, but I cannot locate the particular setting of having it power on automatically and I am still having to reach back and open the cabinet to power it on.  No doubt i just missed a setting.  Do you know what menu that is in under the Phoenix BIOS?

I replaced the CMOS battery and everything (even the monitor) is working great except the same issue about the computer not turning on when the master power switch is flipped.

I have to open the back, reach in and turn it on manually.  I went into the BIOS as best as I could understand and tried setting it correctly... but nay.

I guess I can live with it, but if someone know the issue here, I am all ears !!

I posted this in DL/SA forum... but want to also reach out here

I was given a UC 20th anniv cabinet with the Jamma kit and (what I believe to be) a saicom mini computer inside.

It has a couple of issues that I need help with finding the right direction please

1)  The monitor rolls uncontrollably and I cannot get it to stop despite tweaking the pots on the chassis and flyback, so I am simply going to replace the built-in monitor with a 19" LCD.  Am I correct in assuming I can then run the VGA cable straight to that monitor from the controller PC ?

2)  The PC itself will NOT turn on when the cabinet is powered up.  I have to open the back, reach in and hit the power button on the front of the PC. I actually have to do this about 5 or 6 times, completely killing all power and turning back on before the button will fire up the computer.  I really have NO CLUE what this may be and wondering if I should simply replace the computer (if that is possible)

I am not a pro at this, so I will gladly accept all advice.  I have pics of the PC and JAMMA board here but it looks to be a standard kit that I have seen around the forum.  If someone know where to obtain a replacement, I am all ears !!

I HAVE all the installation discs and codes to go with them.. so I am willing to do a reload/reinstall, but again.. need direction.

Thanks in advance

It is a link port to the Simicon (or whatever brand minicomputer) is below the JAMMA  board (similar to the neighboring VGA cable if you were to follow it around to the base unit

But I did find a manual online showing a KB input... So that is solved ....

But I am running into several issues now with the game and I think I might have to employ a game tech to solve the problems

When I power on the console (master switch) the computer (black box under JAMMA BOARD) doesn't fire up. Have to hit the power button on the front of it and it takes several tries to get it to stay on...

THEN about 20 seconds into the POST... The screen looses it's horizontal hold and I cannot get it back. Have tried adjusting the pots but no luck.

I think the move just killed it

Technical Area / Ultracade 20th DL/SA/DL2 Cabinet repair

I picked up this cabinet for nothing and need to do some repairs to get it running.  Aside from the outer lights (Marquee) the game would not power up.  I got into the back and took a look.  There was power to the control board ON TOP of the CD-Rom drive (red light was on).. but I noticed there was no power to the CD unit in the housing underneath the control board.  I tried hitting the POWER button on the CD-Rom and got a millisecond of life but then it blanked out again.  I reset the game a few time (off/on) and tried this over and over.  It finally stayed on and I heard the POST beep of the CPU unit.

Went to the front of the console and stuck on the POST screen with a CHECKSUM ERROR but it gives me the good ol' "PRESS F1 to continue".  Is there a keyboard input somewhere I can tie in and get past that POST?

On a second note... is this an issue that can be fixed PERMANENTLY with the upgrade of a board?  I tried looking for Ultracade and they are defunked and I dont know who is picking up on the repair parts, support.

Anyone have any thoughts?  I appreciate your time !

Ok, so with reasearch I have found that this is an "Ultracade" system and even found a manual.  Ultracade appears to be long gone.. is any current company covering support of these consoles...or is this going to be repair-101 for me?

I have all the photos I thought would be relevant.  I am ASSUMING (because I like making an @$$ out of myself....) that this is some type of OEM setup with just an emulator of some kind.

These are taken from the back of the unit inside the cabinet

I again thank you for your time and thoughts

Greetings fellow Dirkheads!!!

I stumbled into the chance of buying a 20th Anniv. console but it will not startup. It DOES power on (Marquee lights up and monitor turns on but no activity or sound)
I am not going to sit here and ask for step-by-steps.. but I was wondering if there is a STARTING point someone can point me to as far as obtaining a manual for this console.  It has the Digital Leisure logo on the side of it which makes me think it is a newer console (DVD rather than laser disc player, etc) ..but I really dont know where to start to even find the correct TYPE of manual.

I know the game is in good condition minus this issue because I have played it at the prior owners house and it was always well kept, so I am hopeful it is a repairable issue.

I appreciate everyone's time and glad to be here !
