I love "walking" around the arcade, listening to the sounds, seeing "people" playing. The atmosphere is good.
The selection of games is not great yet, and I have already purchased some of them outside the Game Room, but it's a nice start.  :)

I think that it is disappointing, at least for the moment. This is not really an arcade where you can walk around freely, you have to follow 'fixed' paths, you can zoom in and out a bit, go to the left or right, that's it. Not very exciting. there also is no opportunity to communicate with other avaters. With regard to the games, who is waiting for a bunch of intellivision games in a virtual arcade. No one. And even emulating of arcade games is not spot on. And a lot of interesting games might even never reach the Gameroom because of licence issues.

Nevertheless, it's a start and it might get exciting one day. But there still is a long way to go before it will be on par with the likes of Emulaxian/3D Arcade for instance.

Still some players here maybe? I've added JUNO FIRST in my 'virtual' collection  :-* ...but also Time Pilot, just for the challenges because I've the full size cab  ::) ;D
Do not hesitate to add me in your XBL list by the way  ;)

Regarding the success of this 'game room' service, I don't think it's the big hit expected... only three editors are active to releases games : Activision, Konami & Atari.... and the numbers of releases should be more important...
It misses 'mainstream' games in my opinion, the current selection of games available is not the one expected by the mass  :-\

No more new games since few weeks  ???

 :(

Rumors began circulating yesterday that Australian developer Krome Studios has laid off a good chunk of its staff and closed its Adelaide studio, leaving just its Melbourne and Brisbane studios behind. Krome has now officially commented on the situation, and while it's perhaps not as bad as original reports had suggested, the situation at Krome is not a good one.

"As we have seen by other recent announcements, the games industry is still going through economic challenges which Krome is not immune from. These times are challenging and as a result, we have put some of our staff on notice pending the outcome of a number of upcoming projects," a statement issued to GameSpot Australia (via GamesIndustry.biz) read.

The statement made it clear that Krome's current projects will not be affected in any way: "It is important to note that this action has not affected the development of our current projects, both announced and unannounced, which we are continuing to work on. Additionally, Krome remains firmly committed to the future of all three studios."

According to GameSpot, the Adelaide studio remains open for the time being, but it has been put on a four-week notice, with its fate to be decided at the end of that period.

Krome has previously gone through layoffs; most recently in April, shortly after the release of Game Room on Xbox Live Arcade, and again last November.

Besides Game Room, Krome has also been responsible for Viva Pinata: Party Animals, Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Republic Heroes, and Scene It? Box Office Smash.

Our best wishes go out to those who might be affected by the layoffs.
