I missed this and it looks like the auction is over. I did a search on eBay though, and it looks like there's a similar auction still open (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1981-Galaxian-2-Video-Game-Handheld-Box-Needs-Repair-Entex-6023-/230743323107?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35b95fb1e3).

If something interests you, I could bid, and I have family in the US that could send it off to you. Let me know.

So, it seems that we are a pretty diverse group so far. It's also good to hear that I'm not the only one without any tech/wood skills.

As for the Rowan Atkinson bit, very funny. I'd say that about 50% of us lawyers belong in hell. I'd like to think that I'm in the other 50% though.

Strange question: what do you guys do for a living?

Of course, you don't have to answer, but it seems that, in terms of Arcade Lifestyle, I don't have even close to the time or the skills that you all seem to have. I was wondering if maybe your occupations have something to do with that.

I'm a lawyer. Long, long, long hours. It's 3 am and I'm in a taxi heading home from work. Hopefully I'll be able to spend some time over the weekend to work on my DK cab plans, but we'll see.

I'll look around at the Japanese home center and see what I can find (But I'm not really sure how much bondo I'll need for a scratch build. It might come in handy though...)

So, can the wood filler go right on top of the wood hardener? Or is there some prep that needs to be done in-between? Very cool stuff, but the way.

Here's the deal: the people in the movie are armatures. These aren't Oscar award winning actors we're talking about. So, planned or not, that Billy is able to come off as a evil villain of video games indicates that that's at least in part who he is. Same for Steve.

Anybody who's ever been in the entertainment industry knows that, to a degree, everything is scripted and everybody is playing a role. That doesn't make it any less real or true.

I've seen the complainers, the don't want the "truth" to get out, the are just sad that they aren't as awesome as Billy and Steve.

Nice pics. I'll have to post some pics next time I go to Akihabara. There's a retro game store (mostly counsel games, but a cool retro arcade too) that I like to go to that I think you'll all enjoy. Here's the link:

Quick note: In Japan in the 80s, cocktail tables were often found in coffee shops that tough kids used as hang outs. When I asked one of my Japanese friends what comes to mind when he sees a cocktail table he told me, "skipping school and smoking cigarettes."

What do you guys think about the quality of this Nintendo coin door? Is it worth bidding for or no?

I will be sure to keep you updated here on my progress. And, I'm also pretty certain that I will shoot you more than a couple questions.

I'm stoked. 8)

I'd love to base my scratch build off of scr33n's red Donkey Kong cabinet plans. Does anyone know if he ever posted them?

I see that the measurements from DarthNuno and others are burred in this thread (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=783.0), but I couldn't find a file with updated plans available anywhere.

I see also that another new member, Importchoice, is working on putting together some solid plans in this thread (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=3182.0), but after seeing scr33n's results, my guess is that scr33n's plans are probably pretty close to perfect.

If scr33n's plans aren't available, I'll try correcting the Jakobud plans with the measurements in scr33n's Donkey Kong Thread.

Thanks everybody!

Thanks, Blanka. I'm sure that I'll be able to find at least one of those monitors over here.
