Arcade Lifestyle / Mini-Track (4 foot tall Track & Field)
« on: December 30, 2009, 07:14:47 AM »
Well, I guess I should catch everyone up on the project.  I am now starting a new thread, since I do not want to disrespect Scr33n's awesome scratch build thread.

Two weeks ago, I realized that this mega-present wasn't going to make it for Christmas. It's going to be a New Year's President's Day present now.  To remind everyone, this project is for a Track & Field replica cab.  However, I am reducing the size to 4 feet tall (70% of full size).

I did my research and cobbled together the measurements. (Thanks everyone.)  I whipped up the side of the cabinet and printed out the pattern.

After I cut it out.

And the difference between realizing the difference between full sheet print and cutting edges off print.

Here I have the right side of the cab measured for cross pieces. (You can notice the left side in the back.)

Here is the shot for figuring out where the monitor and control panel will be going.

Starting to block out the edges here.

I'm not sure if I can share the plans for this cab since we have had to do a *lot* of improvising.  This is due to the fact that I am putting a 19 inch monitor into the machine.  Considering that the inside of the cab is only 16 and 7/8's wide, the monitor looks (and is) huge, proportionally speaking.

My father-in-law, who is helping with this project, came up with the idea to fabricate the control panel in plastic. It was a great idea.  Here are the pics:

It's going to look great with custom artwork.

Well, I hope to have more pics soon since I keep forgetting to take my camera out to the workshop the last couple times.  I'll try harder to remember and keep everyone updated.
