@ Etienne: The PCB wasn't the problem, Andre is going to investigate the trackball.

Nice to know that that went fine  8)

that sounds like we dont need to cut them out again to install sockets ;)

did he bring his trackball too to test your board ? or did he take the stuff from you to his place for further investigation ?

sorry totally off topic , maybe bruno can move this to the correct threat ? i dont like to "steal" topics...

I didn't bring my trackball because mine is not so easy to remove because of the back-lit trackball.

I brought Gyruss' trackball back to my home to have a further look but I'm pretty sure one of the opto's is bad.
When measuring the outputs I got almost 5V on all except one which was only 2,2 V.

So I do hope Gyruss' board is OK, but it's not 100% sure.

??

I tested one monitor on my Galaxian, works great ! Had to adjust the focus a bit, that's it. Still need to put it in the cab though. The only pity is that there are no pre-wired connectors included with the monitors (the Kortek that I recently installed in my Ms.Pac did have one).

But I'm really not complaining :)

Wahoo....installed one of these beauties in my Galaxian !

Works GREAT !

I had a TV in there before, but it had some syncing problems at the top (read at the right side) of the screen (pulsing). Of course it works fine now.

The good thing was that I could undo the extra wiring for the +12V and +5V from the game PCB to the SCART connector. I can now also remove the extra voltage regulator I put on the board plus the extra connectors for those voltages. The bad thing was that when I was removing the TV, about the worst thing that could happen happened, the right "slide" of the monitor board got loose, so the neck of the tube hit the game PCB and heya, there was a sssssssssssssssssssshhhh sound... :( So, one less 19" CRT in the world. Also there was some minor damage on the PCB (some tiny filter caps broken, but the board still works fine....will fix that a bit later...

Anyway........the new monitor is now inside, firmly installed and working great !

Thats not cool when that happens.., remembers me one time fixin a tv and when i was done i hit the neck while installing the cover...
but be happy its just a tv, and not the new monitor !

A little update on this Neverending Monitor Group Buy story  ;)

A few weeks ago I went to Etienne's place to drop Thwocker's 4 monitors (and pick up some other stuff).

Last week I had the pleasure to meet speleo_de and his daughter who came at my place to pick up his 5 beauties.
We had a nice chat and a "healthy" meal and I took the opportunity of having a vector expert at my place to learn some basics about PCBs
and to have him install my Asteroids high score save kit.
It worked like a charm! (hey you never know, as Andreas said before operating "It's a very old patient so there's always a risk"  ;) ).

(the orange and pink weird stuff on the right are not barbapapas, these are balloons from my kid's first birthday).
