Title: The Official Eurocade Roadtrip / Transport Topic
Post by: Etienne MacGyver on August 29, 2011, 01:57:55 PM
Well, i thought it would be nice to create a dedicated topic where all of us can post theyre story of theyre way to eurocade  ;D

i have multiple transports ;)

As many of you know, my CK lives at my mothers Attic..
So i decided to take it apart, and take the heavy stuff out since i need to carry it two stories down..
(sorry crappy cellphone pics)

backdoor, PCB, CP, coinbucket, monitor, bezel, marquee & transformer removed, those where the more heavy and easy to remove items..

Thanks to my neighbour (helping it carry down), the almost empty shell is safe in my mothers shed right now..

my mother even put some soft "gardenchair" pillows under it, so it does not sit on the bare concrete..
(still need to fix the leg levelers... )   ;D

Thanks Mum !  :spaceace:

What is that building in the back? Nice detailing! Is it wooden strips or brick?
I guess the bottom part still has to be finished?

Andre will be my "follow car" and from time to time, i called "ground control" to check if everything looked good from the back  8)

After traveling 1 hour at 80 km/h on the cruise control, we made it safe to the destination.  :-*
only the plastic is a little beat up from the wind..  :-\

Lets check the DK..  hmm the tarp has moved a bit, but for the rest everything is fine !   :P

End stats for today when i got back home..
269 Km. driven, and the time i dont want to know  :D

Seriously guys, Béla and Zita already on their way, wih a loaded Focus, Michael doing the great "Round-a-bout trip".......you are amazing and I'm proud your doing all these efforts, just like all the other people driving all these long distances and bringing cabs etc......

YOU GUYS ROCK !!!!

To all please have a safe trip and make lots of pics, however trivial you think they may be they all tell the story of the first ever Eurocade.

Like I already mentioned, the weather forecast  has changed. Friday will be a very sunny day, temps about 22C, Saturday even warmer at 24C but more cloudy and some chance of rainy spells. Anyway, the game rooms going to be pretty warm so dress for summer !!

Well, i saw my trip over before it began, i'm in Gatwick airport - just cleared the security.... Bearly!! They thought i had a bomb in my carryon!!!! They shut down the line, and waited for a representive to show up, so he could have a look at the mystirous thing on x-ray i had in my bag!!!! And at one point, the bomb squard was in the picture!!!!!!!!

But in the end it was only the G07  :D
Here's the only pic i have, after they had taken the chassis out of the bubble wrap and placed it i a tray, and reopened the line! Enjoy!!!

Time to load the Zacc for transport tomorow..
My little helper joins me today, and he looks as happy as i am  8)

Loaded the empty zacc in the trailer, this feels already much more comfortable than the 2 cab that where transported 2 days ago !

I disengaged the trialer and rolled it to the back entrance of my mothers place.

The weather forecast is looking good, but still you never know, so i wrapped the tarp around it.

As for the loose parts, i did a cleaning since they where out of the cab anyway  :P

My mother also has the Eurocade spirit !  :spaceace:

I parked the trailer in the garage for pickup tomorow right after work
there is also something in the back that i need to bring  ::)

After that i went home, and finished the Piggy Zacc tm (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=2823.0) which will take the funktion as...........

the official Eurocade 2011 Donations piggybank !

It's time to select a cabinet...
Like a slide puzzle game, I'm moving cabinets inside the original Lair, and I finally find a way to get out the selected one  8)

THREE CABS !!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Wahooo...yes !!!!

I have good news and some less good news:

Bela arrived safely anb sound this morning. ALL my cabs are already on location AND working (except Play Scene).
Space Pirates, up and running, Gravitar happy as ever, Magicol Spot 2 (sweet) cocktail, running ! DK from Gyruss and Pac from RonaldReagan, all running.

The bad thing ? While loading the back door of the Joust jumped out and RIGHT on my big toe. And that back door has a metal "edge" strip. It hurts pretty bad now and I'm walking like a lame duck...May have to see a doctor tonight...

Anyway heading right back to the location as some German friends arrived !!

Dawn! I had exactly the same story 4 years ago... After working on my Battlezone, I put back the back door... but I didn't put it well... and the back door falls like a guillotine ... on my big toe! Of course, I was working bare-foot!

Result  IMPOSSIBLE to walk... Pain  Direction the emergency (it was too late for a doctor) ... fractured toe!

OK, I hear you : "pictures or it didn't happened' ... ok ... even in pain : ARCADE LIFE STYLE fiiiiiirst !  ;D See the ugly attached pictures  ::)

Well, I hope it's not as bad André  :-\

i've got some bad news, guys - and i already "warned" andré about it: the problem is that patrik's father has parked the giant harvester so stupidly in front of the cabinets in the storage that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get any of them out - they are simply blocked in the back. why doesn't he simply drive it out again, you might ask? well, the harvest is over and like every year he has already removed the battery from the machine (so that it doesn't leak or drain over winter) which makes it impossible to start / move it. you guys don't know patrik's dad, but if i asked him to re-install the battery to move the harvester he would most likely kill me - seriously! well, i walked over to the other side of the storage, but there are only cabs in semi-working condition (like the mad planets which has a very blury picture most of the time) or cabs which are already there (pole position).

would it be ok if i brought my entire vectrex collection instead (including the famous 3d imager)? i know it's not a cab and most of us have already played vectrex, but i think i have all the original games that have been released, so i'm pretty sure there are games there which you guys haven't played yet (polar rescue for example). would that be an option?

Really sorry to add some more bad news ....

We've worked all day and evening trying to get rid of this one last fault on BK.

Gameplay is fine but when it's in the game-over-sequence a random sound lauches (one that shouldn't play during attract mode) and the displays start acting wierd when this occurs.

We just can't figure out why it does that. This morning we were still pretty confident we'd find the problem, but we've simply run out of time now.

I do come in good spirtis tomorrow though. With the Marv dvd's I promised to bring a while back.
Really looking forward meeting all you guys tomorrow. Hope your toe doesn't ruin it too much for you André.

And thank you guys for all the pictures of the cabs that _will_ be making it to to Eurocade, that really cheers me up, knowing this event will still be a succes even after some throw backs.

I sadly have to add my share of bad news here, sorry about that.
KID and I (at my modest level) have been working a lot on my SI for the past weeks to get it ready for Eurocade.
Everything was working fine, I even played it with my son this afternoon.
(believe me this is the real thing and it's setting a strong difference between emulation and 100% original dedicated)
Later, I went on the forum and saw Muerto's pics about his MC brought back to life.
I felt like doing the same and I went downstairs with my camera, just when I turned the cab on at 7pm tonight: nothing on the screen, just a very loud and annoying sound.
The PCB died this afternoon, even though the cab hadn't been moved at all...  ??? ??? ???
Guys I'm so pissed off and sad right now.
The only reachable cab in such short notice is my beloved Asteroids, so I loaded it in the trailer today along with the Out Run.
I know André is already bringing an Asterock but hey at least even if people don't play with my game they can always play "spot the 7differences".
Truly hope you fellow DLFers understand  :-\ :-\ :-\

 :o

But don't you have any nice cab in your apartment that you could bring? For instance the wizard of wor, we heard that one of the attendants tomorrow is interested in it and it would be great if he could play the game.

Anyway, you surely should be able to bring one nice game out of your great collection. Please do your best, you will succeed in choosing a nice game.

The Vectrex collection is nice, but not really necessary. See you tomorrow (today I mean).

This is funny, Erik just posted from my Mac downstairs and I am in bed with my iPad writing this :)

Loads of bad luck, but there's also good news:
We have had ALL cabs running from when they arrived and only one showed a tiny problem. It was my Centi, and man is it great to have gained some experience in this hobby. The archer was jumping weirdly and in attract there was some erratic characters on screen.....my first hunch was right right away: The +5V voltage was too low, 4.81 V on the board. Adjusted pot, problem fixed. ALL other machines ran fine, even the Star Wars. There are some issues with the Puckman like no sound and a bit whacky screen (although Etienne improved it a lot already !) but thats about it.

Drive safely and we'll have a great day tomorrow !

Your welcome Etienne.

Although I don't have the complete series (I Think), I brought all the Marv's dvds I do have.

And yes, gotta love those crazy, but skilled guys. Glad you like them ! I had a great laugh watching these.
