I just freaking love this forum !!!  And Etienne too.... ;D

I think the one's I'll need are about 50cm on the long (carrying) edge. I saw some specs and a set is supposed to be able to carry 110 kG. So that's plenty for a monitor.

Remember removing the planks in the rehearsal room for Eurocade Etienne ? those are supported with the same one's IIRC.

I am also going to need a shroud (or plastic bezel) around the monitor screen.... no idea if a general one would work.

Anyone got anything around ?

And so....it begins !

Let's mount those microswitches back and reconnect some of the loose wires. Have to think hard with those one because of the diagonal directions ;);)

I even had to get the panel out to get the directions right because you have to know which way the stick is slanted :)

It's done, but I don't like the soldered wires. I think I'll crimp AMP connectors on the harness and clean the solder off off the switches as good as possible. This is more neat and makes it easy to replace a switch if needed.

I'll also need 4 nuts to mount the stick to the CP threads....I bet they're not metric though.....

Damn....damn.....damn......why is this original CPO still in such nice shape ?

Yeah it's a bit schmootzy but after a magic eraser treatment Im sure it will look quite nice.....

I HATE IT !

Why ? Because I have a minty fresh repro here and I want to install it but it is hurtful to ruin original stuff if it's still in such good condition......

Why doesn't it have scratches all over or cigarettes burn......:( ;)

Mmmm....just tried cleaning it. There's more damage to it than that picture shows and the dirt doesn't really seem to get out ...I guess because of the structure of the vinyl......

Well I'll think a bit about it. Still need to sand and repaint the underside though.

I also found the nuts....I had been tumbling them before and they are nice and shiny :D

Let's find back all the parts...

Main PCB, Check
Sound PCB, Check (but untested)
Interboard harness, Check
PSU board ??
Filter board ??

The PSU and filter board are in storage at my friend's place I'm sure.

That harness has one small connector missing. From other pics I can see it's a molex one, looks a lot like old FDD/HD drive power connector....but it isn't.
This one has a pointed end on one side only. Not sure if a FDD connector would actually fit, I'll try it when I retrieved the board.

Looks like this:

Let's hook some stuff up just to see how it goes...well that's straightforward enough.

Inspected the harness. All connectors look good except for two.

A8-J1 has a clear "heat mark". Sadly this is not a regular molex connector like all the other one's are. I am the lucky owner of a molex tool and a lot of connectors (although not all sizes used on Q*bert).....this one is different, it has squire pins by the looks of it....will need to investigate and replace those pins

A3-J4 has pins that look bad. Guess they've been handling a lot of current too.
It's a 16 pin connector which I don't have, but the good thing about these molex connectors is that you can easily use 2 8 pin connectors instead. You can't hook them up to each other but 2x8 take exactly the same physical space as 1 16 pin.

Oops made one mistake....the ground wire needs an extra wire for the P2 button.

I love macro pictures. They show stuff you can't see with the bare eye.

Here two pics I made of the molex connectors on the harness. The first one is the one I could already see to be bad with the bare eye. However, the second looked OK.....but the picture tells a different story....
