Emeralds mine looks like a complete Boulderdash knock-off ?

Boulderdash actually had a "dedicated" cab, the Exidy's Max-a-flex:

Of course there simply was an Atari 8 bit computer inside running First Star Software games Bristles, Astro Chase and Flip & Flop were the other games. All of them are very good games, except Astro Chase maybe.

Not fond of the colors used for the artwork....but I'd love to have one of those machines.....could play a gazallion of great A8 games on it :)

I know. I own mostly of those games for my Playchoice10, but thats not dedicated. I meant a dedicated cab for such great games

@Andre, really cool cab, and it is a BoulderDash rip off, but I like it still

Boulderdash is a great game, I never knew it was an arcade game until I did a KLOV search before posting to this particular thread.

Played it in MAME, I like the MSX version of the game better

hell... that boulder dash would look good down here. did not know that it existed.
Looking for Dragons Lair 1 or 2, Space Ace, Double Dragon, Robotron and yeah... a Shinobi would be cool, too!

It's pretty crappy that the games are simply timed though...you can actually run the games in MAME this way. So...MAME actually contains a full Atari 8-bit emulator just for these 4 games...

Astro Chase may be a better game than I first thought:

Some interesting info I found on Atarimania's GREAT website:

The cartridge version of the game was never meant for home use. It was designed for the Exidy Max-a-Flex cabinet (basically an arcade machine with a 600XL inside) and sold with typical arcade packaging. Unlike the Parker Brothers ROM, it runs on the Atari XL and XE machines.

That's pretty interesting. First Star Software first released the game on tape and disc first, then came the Parker release on cartridge that didn't work on XL's (probably would with the translator disc, but this won't normally work with a cartridge) and then the Exidy Max-A-Flex version that obviously worked on XLs as there was a 600XL inside of the machines. They never built more than 1500 of the machines, it was a major flop.

Found a VERY VERY interesting link about these machines and the games right here....http://allincolorforaquarter.blogspot.nl/2013/08/the-ultimate-so-far-history-of-exidy.html

.....which leads to another unknown and amazing looking machine: Vertigo ! 150 made !

Thanks for the hints.

Now question comes up  - which cabinet design suits best? Taito? Williams? Midway? Capcom? Atari System 1? any original dedicated of a "not game related" company/manufacturer at all?

While Mario Bros 3 could go into a Nintendo standard cabinet, or Duck Tales into a Capcom one...what about other companies like Psygnosis or Thalion?

Sooo many choices.

Or -what would make e.g. an Amiga cabinet Unique speaking of design and placement of monitor/control panels.

P.S.: Right now I was thinking about International Karate+ 3-Player cabinet based on a Rampage and/or Rampart cabinet.
