Hi!

Nice machine ... I own the same one. Fortunately mine is still working (fingers crossed). If my pcb quits I will consider using mame on this one too. I wouldn't install a frontend and more games though

Maybe you could remove the gear display in the lower right corner. The bad thing is, that you have to recompile your own Mame version for that ... That would correct the strange shifter handling, too.  :)

Since the pcb has standard jamma pinout I think the buttons are not supposed to be lit.

Usually the LEDs are fired up by the pcb. No extra resistors neccessary. In your case you need two resistors. I used 220Ohms when I remember right ... There will be no blinking and constant lighting of course. When the LEDs shine to bright you could use stronger resistors.

Hi,

I have a table looking exactly like that. I will pull out the meter and provide you the measures by tomorrow. Though I would suggest to get an universal table ... There are many of the out there for almost nothing.

as for the other measures on the connectors: i'm doing those measures with the connectors removed from the pcb, so it's impossible that a short on the pcb causes those zero voltages ...

ok .. so you habe an issue with the switcher, that's quite sure. Since it delivers only 5V and -5V you could use a regular switcher in exchange. Most of them work with 220V and 110V ... it' just a switch on the device. Should be changed easily.

Yep! I got a Philips CM 8833 Amiga Monitor on my testbench since it's small, takes rgb and composite and is not picky when it comes to syncing little off frequencies that some pcbs provide ;)

cheers, prc

PS: Yeah I think we should post that in the b/w Monitorss thread ... maybe there will be a raid on ebay for thode old monitors then ... the 23" size of the VP screen brings me a headache though ... maybe I find a 24" with service menu that provides functions for sizing the picture ;)

Hi Nuno!

Yes, the PP is working (knock on wood). I had to fix it just once, so at the moment I'm lucky enough to enjoy the game! The PunkRockCaveman comes from this song:

Before that I was only known as "The Caveman" because of my excessive chesthair ;D but thats another story. The Upload Function seems to be disabled for my account ... can't find anything under "Additional Options". Never mind ... I will get a flicker account in the future.

Hehe ... hi guys ... after all, it's always the same people who show up, right ;) My VP is still nor working. I (almost) fixed the pcb. Laschek was so kind to borrow me his one for tests (it's almost on the way back, buddy) but the bigger problem is the monitor. I saw another thread where the b/w monitor supplement problematic was discussed. I think I'm in there, too. I managed to get the pcb running on a regular tv though! That was a piece of cake since that one uses composite video output.

Hello everybody!

I would like to introduce myself to the wonderful people of the Dragons Lair Fan Forum. I'm following you guys for quite a while here. Some of you might know me from the other (mainly german) forums as I know some of you from the meeting at Luigis and Kriks place last year or other strangs occasions (like buying an After Burner Upright ;)).

I did a lot of different things in the past, like restoring cabs, converting old german universals to shiny little gems, building high end arcade sticks together with my friend bencao74... right now I'm on a Atari Video Pinball who needs a good amount of work right now and I try to get my Pinbot pinball working again. Besides all of that I recently put all my cabs in the basement ... The Cave ... to get rid of the complaints of Mrs Caveman who claimed the living room back for living  ::)

Ok ... I think thats it for now ... some pics of course, because everybody loves pics, right? ;) Looking forward to get it on here ...

cheers, prc

Hi Ully!

... and Hi to everyone else. Im around for a while here ... another great arcade forum with nice people. I come from germany and ... ah, who cares, I will write an introduction thread soon ;) Now let's move on to help Ully.

- FG means "frame ground" ... in germany usually the green/yellow cable in the power cable
- NC means "not connected" so you can ignore that one
- +S / -S looks like the -5 indeed ... since Gauntlet has two power supplies this one is only for 5V and -5V

I suggest to test to remove all cables from the supplie except the AC ones. Then test the voltages again. If it reads something, there might be some short on the pcb ...

cheers, prc
