Title: My collection of arcade games
Post by: kralleman on November 04, 2016, 10:30:42 PM
Since I have already requested help here on the forums I guess I should at least present myself. Name is Kristofer and I am from Sweden and I know at least two other members here in person (pinge and rogerxy) as we usually go on arcade roadtrips together and used to arrange Scandinavia's biggest retrogaming convention (at most we had 4000 visitors!). I have been collecting video games since 2001/2002 something and used to focus mostly on NES and obscure console and retrocomputer stuff. I bought my first arcade cabinet back in 2008 I believe, and that was a Capcom Noname. Since then I've had a sane relationship to arcade collecting. Up until about a year ago or so when it all escalated. These are the machines that I currently have in my possession:

* Capcom Noname
* 2x Italian wall-mounted Aleph cabinets (JAMMA)
* Wall-mounted Atari Breakout in cabinet built by Cherry
* Atari Breakout cocktail table
* Atari Breakout consolette (serial number 62!)
* Pac-Man upright (serial number 932!)
* Galaxian upright
* Midway Space Invaders upright
* Kee Games Super Bug upright
* Gran Trak-20 upright (not picked up yet)
* Star Castle upright (Rock-Ola built)
* Atari Anti Aircraft upright
* Centipede cabaret
* Allied Leisure Paddle Battle
* Atari Pong (yes the original :) )
* Too many arcade pcbs

I added a couple of pics here to the post, let's see if they stick :) Otherwise, I post updates every now and then on my instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/kristoferhanssonaspman/).

Anyway, I am trying to broaden my horizons and it feels like an arcade roadtrip to the rest of Europe will happen in a not so distant future.

Hi, and welcome. Wow, I love your Breakout table, wonderful.  Is it fully working?

BTW, didn't beat the low serial number on my pac-man, which is 199.  :)

I have 13xxx on my Pacman, but mine is at a museum 320km away at the moment, sadly.....

199, damn!

The table is almost fully functional. I am currently troubleshooting an annoying loud hum from the speakers. Monitor has been rebuilt, the pcb fixed and a lot of other cosmetic stuff has been done as well.

Nice collection! Great to see someone else who like B&W games.

Do you know any more about your Breakout Wallmount? Who are Cherry? I've seen one of these recently and wan't sure if it was a copy/clone/bootleg. Seem to use official Atari buttons but I couldn't see any serial stickers or the fact that marquee has no mention of Atari.

Cheers, Mart.

Cherry was a swedish supplier of games, they made a few different cabinets under license, for example Sprint II and various breakouts, the wallmounted cabinet supposedly exists with other games aswell.

I also have a paddle battle (might be up for trade) ;)

Yes like pinge said, Cherry was a partner to Atari in the 70s and early 80s. The earliest game I've found that they imported to Sweden was Trak-10. I have schematics and notes from Cherry dating back to 1974 (even atari schematics with Cherry logo on them). I guess they realised quite early that it was cheaper to just buy the PCBs and controls and then assemble the cabinets here in Sweden. Later on, they imported the VCS to Sweden. They still exist but focus on casino stuff (online and blackjack and roulette in Swedish restaurants). I believe they were active in other parts of Europe too.

I was told that they placed a huge order of Trak-10s from atari back in the mid 70s and that this saved Atari from some major setback.

If you look up the klov entry for breakout, there's a cherry flyer showing the wall-mount version. I think around 10 wall-mount cabinets exist among Swedish collectors today so they're not super rare. The neck on the tube of my cabinet has been damaged so I need a new tube :(

Paddle battle was one of the first pong clones, it seems it waa released in March 1973. Allied Leisure got a license to produce these from Atari so it's a "licensed clone". Probably one of the first coin-op video games to reach Sweden.

Found a picture of some sprint 2:s in custom cabinets. These are actually owned by a non-profit organization that I, pinge and rogerxy here on the forums have.

I believe these aren't from Cherry but a competitor to them. They were built in Gothenburg, Sweden back in the days and have original PCBs and controls.

Its semi-working... we have more or less just tested it and it feels like there is something that does not register as it should..

But yes, it fires up and is playable, same with the gunsmoke machine, that need very minor fixes, works and has the hologram intact.
