PLEASE pick up some real copies of the NYT while you're there !!!

Even if you didn't make it into there, I'll pay for them.

IF Eurocade will be mentioned in the New York Times, I'm buying you a whole crate of beer instead of just one ;)

I just arrived at FS for the last time, but there is not much going on at the moment, just watching Hank playing a game of DK. Score at the moment is 473200  ;D

Last series of pictures. Yesterday in the late afternoon I visited Funspot for the last time. And there I met Hank Chien. Awesome nice guy. He was playing a game and I stopped and watched him playing for about an hour, until he died at the score of 640,000. It was great to see how he went through the levels, and believe me, it was sometimes amazing how he survived.

I introduced myself after the game and we had a nice chat. He told me that he will do a world record attempt  this weekend, although he already has a taped game of breaking it just two weeks ago. But he likes to try it again during the tournament, also because he is on a role with the game lately.  ;D

And of course the obligatory picture

And one of a few other awesome players who were hanging out there:

The Funspot hall of fame of Steve Wagner:

Here is Hank being interviewed by the same NYT reporter who interviewed me

I hope that I can get a copy of the Monday NY Times, I don´t know if it is available where I am that day (not near NYC).  ???

By now I unfortunately had to leave, and on the way out I passed Donald Hayes who was showing another gamer some tricks on how to play Pac-Man. He made it look so easy.

So guys, if you still have doubts about visiting Funspot, I hope by now that you realize that Funspot NH is a must-visit place for the true arcade gamer!  :) Especially during a tournament. So if possible, visit Funspot.  ;D

So long ......

If my wife reads the comment next to this photo, then I am a dead man! I told her that it was just a coincedence.  ::)

No, just kidding, she knew upfront that I wanted to go there.  ;D And she is very happy for me that I had a great time.

And I´m very happy for here that they have a lot of outlet malls in The States.  :(  ;)

WOW Funspot is NOW on the frontage of the NYT site:

http://www.nytimes.com/

And here's the full article:
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/04/arts/video-games/14th-annual-international-classic-video-game-tournament.html?_r=1&hp

Regretfully neither Erik nor DLF nor Eurocade made it in there, but I'm happy to see Scott (who donated almost all of his cabs to Funspot because he's suffering from cancer, see KLOV) is mentioned.

It says this at the bottom:
A version of this article appeared in print on June 4, 2012, on page C1 of the New York edition with the headline: When Defending Earth Cost 25 Cents.

I would still like a hard-copy maybe the article is longer on paper ?

OK guys, I know I promissed not to make fun of DL anymore but I couldn't help giggling a bit when I read DL mentioned in the "rows of obscure titles". Mind you, Gun Fight, Tapper and even Qix made it in that list too !! so maybe it says more about the writer ;)
