Space Zap (Cocktail) :
One of the wires on the 16pin molex that goes to the game pcb got loose.
Now "1player" and "2players" button don't work anymore.
Do you know where this wire should go?
My guess is that it also goes in pin 7 with the other wire that has the same colour but I'm not a tech guy.
If somebody with the same game could provide me a pic of his wiring that would be fine too.
Thanks!

Hi,
according to the schematics on the pic (and the game-board-schematics) is pin 7 the ground connection to the
coin-button-switches, slam-door switch and start-button-switches...
if it is the original wiring:
the one orange-red cable (that is still connected) should lead to the slam-door switch (on the inner coin door) and the loose one should lead to the start-button-switches and coin switch(es).
if it is so, it is the GND-Connection to those switches and should be connected to PIN 7
Greetings
Jochen

Hi Jochen !
the one orange-red cable (that is still connected) should lead to the slam-door switch (on the inner coin door) and the loose one should lead to the start-button-switches and coin switch(es).
Yes that's 100% correct.
if it is so, it is the GND-Connection to those switches and should be connected to PIN 7
So the 2 orange-cables are both going into PIN 7?
Thank you so much, it has to be eurocade perfect :)

I have one more request
Could somebody help me order the right pins from the shop?
I need 2 different ones and I already ordered the wrong ones once :-\
Here are pictures of the pins I'm looking for and I will post screenshots of the site I'm ordering from (rs-online) right after.
Thanks!

THANKS!

Looks to be a 0.156" Molex connector - very common on Williams classics. Easy way to check is measure the distance between the centres of pin 1 and 10, then do the math for the pitch (dist / 10). Should be 1.56" (4 cm) total for the 10 pins. There surely must be someone out there in Euroland who can post you a couple of the crimps (they generally come in packets of 100-200). 2478 / 2578 connnector is I think the type supplied for these. Last time I ordered I had to aske the online support from Farnell which type to get from them. Order is below - I had to bulk it out to make their minimum order value for postage :
1756639 200 08-52-0072 CONTACT, SOCKET, 24-18 AWG, CRIMP 08-52-0072
1756768 10 09-93-1200 HOUSING, CRIMP, 3.96MM, 12WAY 09-93-1200
3085375 50 9-0160481-1 CRIMP TERMINAL, FEMALE, 4.8MM, RED 9-0160481-1

Many thanks Bomjac! Very very useful, mate, I'll keep you posted ;)

.156 = 3.9 mm so don't measure the lenght as you are doing in the picture but measure how wide they are.
Both krimps can be used in the same way. The one that has the three way grip has a bigger contact area and is called trifurcon pen. This pen is plated phosphoricbronze so it can handle higher currents, this type is the best and most expensive but can be used for all applications. The other one is a standard pen. As you can see in the catalogue there are many different platings... I would ignore that. The real question is the awg of the wire you want to krimp 18-20 awg, (thick wire) or 22-26 awg (thin wire).
.100 2,54 mm are another standard size. So check which one you need.
-
Thanks also Laszo!
Actually I need both .156 and .100
Mmmh, about the awg I have no idea: my cables are 2mm thick…
18-20 AWG?
-
They have the .100 (2,54mm) and the .156 (3,96mm) I'm looking for on parts4pinball but...it's in Norway… I will never get this on time :/

Any advice? I'm located in Belgium.

Thanks Laszo!
I need about 40 .100 and 5 .156.
If they aren't here on time before Eurocade, I'll solder the wires temporarily straight on the PCB, so that the table will be playable.
-
Of course, one day after the Eurocade, the pins landed in my mailbox… ;)
-
So you got work to do :P 80 krimps a nice job for a rainy sunday.
-
Sounds like fun indeed but as long as the game works fine, I'll leave the wires soldered to the PCB.
Yes, I'm that lazy ;)

Booooh !
