News from the STERN PINBALL, INC facebook page (7 hours ago) :
Tron LE details coming next week...
Can't wait to have all the details :P :P :P
Hey, already priced €3,820.36 (without taxes) at http://www.parts4pinballs.com/product_info.php?currency=EUR&products_id=6208

Well the dollar is VERY weak at the moment (no wonder with the US government debts), almost 1,50 to the Euro. I hope they keep it up so I have a rate of about 1,60 when I go over there Woo-hoo !

A promotional newsletter from Stern reads as follows:
Our TRON pinball puts the players in the middle of TRON movie and video game action battles. This is a fast moving game. TRON has 3 flippers, including an upper flipper to shot one of the two fabulous fast action ramps. We have not utilized a 3rd flipper in a while, and players will enjoy it. In the center of the playfield, near the top, there is a motorized 3 bank target assembly the player must hit and lower, to gain access to the illuminated, motorized spinning disc, representing TRON's Identity Disc. The spinning disc shoots the ball randomly across and around the playfield. Ramp shots take the player to an exciting Light Cycle multiball. The player shoots at the miniature TRON video game to start exciting features and collect big points.

I was thinking: back in the days of Tron (1) we probably thought pinball was on it's last legs, surely to be completely overtaken by videogames. Who could have guessed that in 2011 there still would be a Pinball Tron game, and ZERO Tron Video Arcade games.....
In one way it makes me very sad, in another I'm still pretty happy ;)

Four Bank Drop Target Mechanism
TRON Drop Targets replace Stand Up Targets
That's much better :-* !
-
I guess it's a bit like this:
Normal version goes to the operators, LE goes to the home-users/collectors....
Seeing this I'm pretty sure it's going to be a pretty expensive machine...
-
good for droptargets.. their standup target is the same as Avatar...etccc...
but ::) so that means a droptarget bank is 1000$ worth nowadays ?

I'm wondering how much it will cost in Europe? :ghost:
What is the best shop for brand new pinball in Europe? Maybe Paul can make a price?

That is an acceptable price for a brand new pinball, especially if it is a Tron. :D
Not too much pics tho.

Ask carl...
He brings brand new stern every year at Ste Menehould, in France.
He's from belgium. I don't remember the name of his shop for instance...
-
This is Carl's site:
http://www.cedermangameparts.be
I have no idea, but my gut feeling tells me he's the best man to deal with for a new flipper, at least I know I would ask him first...
Bought several parts from him for my Judge Dredd and he's an excellent and friendly guy. Also (very important): He knows what he sells and loves the product. I bet if there would be any issues in the future he would give great service.

I 100% agree but I'm afraid after importation fee + seller margin & dollar conversion, it'll be more than 3.451€ :'(
Thanks Pierre & Andre for the links, I'll ask them ;)
-
Feel free to ask him, He's very friendly and as Andre said, he knows what he's talking about.
It's not a chance if Christian (Ste Menehould event Manager) buy through him new pinball every year.

Mmmm, not really that big...

With the legs removed and the back-box folded down, a pinball machine is much smaller than your average videogame cab.

Haha, yeah !!! I have actually seen and "played" "(between "" because I could hardly actually call it playing) one in Vlaardingen when I started in the hobby. Was at the same place where the NIB Nintendo Red Tents were for sale and where we picked up Ully's Night Driver years later...
Everything is so big and clumsy on Hercules that it was by far the slowest pinball I ever played......yes people, bigger is not always better..... ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
I hope the real pinball will have a sound/music background as cool as this virtual one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SI1mY3A3Hkg) :P
-
THAT......looks horny.....but I it's not by Stern.....
Would LOVE it if they would finally use a full color TFT screen in the backbox....those single colored LED one's are way past their date...
-

Mmm, I think I'll play on other people's machines....
Sounds like the LE is already almost sold out....which means there will be a 2nd run for sure...
-
Because of the NW Pinball & Gameroom Show, the first (crappy :-\)videos of the Tron pinball start to pop up on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wl-kpGEj-JI)...
Cannot really judge the game so far :?
-
There is already one for sale in Hungary :o
