My close followers know I have little love for that game...although I admit right away that I never played the arcade version. I just hated it on the Atari 8-bit machines...

like star wars with no yoke i would say. Paperboy is a great dedicated game, i can honestly feel the grips of the controller in my hands now as i write this, such a strong memory of one of my personal arcade classics, the controller really makes the game a superb game to play.
oh yeah, what's the game? i HATE waiting  ;)

Well that's another key for me, I never played Paperboy back in the 80's either. I'd sure love to try it.
You're right Polaris, I never thought SW was a brilliant game on the Atari 8-bit nor the ST. It was OK, but nothing you played for a long time.
Owning the cockpit with original vector monitor kind of changed my mind about that ;)

collecting letters? my guess would have been paperboy as well, but what about bubble bobble or baby pac-man?

Bubble Bobble!!  ;D

No, it's from 1986 and probably had not a dedicated machine... :P

Lady Bug?

And, did it already happen?

I have a hunch that it hasn't anything to do with gaming, but still is very useful for gaming.

Empire Strikes Back? for the letters J.E.D.I. to collect maybe?  ::) But there's no dedicated cab for this game so  :-\

About time to solve the puzzle....

Well, I start this road-trip from my work address last week. Been commissioning a fire alarm on the 2nd largest building in Almere-City (so far).
This pic only shows the front part which is "low". You can't see the higher part which is 20 levels high...

My colleague already did the largest building there which is right next to it.

I forgot my trusted Fuji camera so I had to take pics with my phone....sorry.

The trip: Almere to Zwolle, about 85 km.
Mmmm, yeah well, maybe I shouldn't take pics while driving anymore.....

Almere is built in the Flevopolder. This part of The Netherlands is 100% man-created. This used to be a sea...The Zuiderzee.
So everything in this picture is "artificial":

Long straight roads with long straigs rows of trees....

Of course no road-trip is complete without a traffic-jam. Luckily it's only a very short one because I'm close to my goal.

Arrived at target location ! A squash and cariofit center....hey I like to squash, but no time now !

Because here is the goal of the trip:

And it's not just this large board, there's also a 2nd very small one.

Plus there are a number of boxes with letters included !

So sorry guys, it was not a game I was picking up..... ;D ;D

Ully asked if I would be able to pick this up for him because he wanted this as a hi-score board for his game room. The deal was that I got the smaller board and we'd share the letters.

However, the road-trip was not over just yet....

"Set new co-ordinates for beaming Mr.Spock !"

Heading to a small place called "Voorst". The thing is, the smaller board would be too small....so I was looking through Marktplaats and found another board quite cheap. This one was larger (although not as large as Ully's) but big enough for me. It included a lot of brand new never used letters.

Anyway.....I was now pretty close to the rural areas where some time ago a CKONG was spotted, reportedly he was constructing a rather unusual "nest" for Gorilla's......

While heading over there, I pass this small truck with a very remarkable print on it: Speelautomaten Exploitatie en Verkoop. It's a van from this place:
http://www.flipperkast.nl/

Can it be a sign ? I especially go around the round-a-bout one time to make a picture but it turned out pretty bad....

Anyway, after some time I succeed in tracking down the Kong and he seems happy and harmless enough while working on his "nest"  ;D ;D

Yes, I brought a surprise visit to inspect the progress on the gameroom build ;) Had some nice chats with Erik (who was still busy as you can see) and Ms.CKONG. Shame I couldn't stay much longer, it was already getting later and the trip from Erik to my place is still 1.45 hrs. driving, and all in all it had been a lot of driving already....

Safely arrived home and a few days later this was the result for my hi-score board:

I like it !  ;D

thank you SO much for doing this andré, i'm happy for you that you found a second letterboard in the area as well!

man, that looks absolutely cool, a letterboard is so damn retro!

seems like you've had a nice little roundtrip with cool pickups and an unexpected visit to Mr Kong.

I have thought about having a flat screen, hanging on the wall with scores on it :) (but of course it's more expensive)

Letterboards! Brilliant idea, it looks so "official" to display the high scores that it makes you wanna beat them!
